  • @tjcouch

where are ya playin at? looks fun

  • lockers would help but u probably could have made it with more aggressive tread tires, those tires are good on road but they don't self clean so they plug right up

  • Don't know anything about these yet, but very interested from that stand point of a great work truck & BOV. Vary cool & look forward to more knowledge. Love offloading w/ my old 4runner. Real interested in more of its' capabilities.

  • You would of made it if it still had its a/t tires on it

  • i'm sorry... but I have some problems withtis! first this truck is not set up for off roading ( look at the street tires that hes has on the truck). Second: I see nothing in the Vid that any good ( jeep, Hummer, Chevy) 4X4 cannot do. When i compare it to to say something like a Pinzgauer or a Unimog for off roading this truck falls way way short. I would not want to do any sort of extrem offroading in thie specific truck (winch or no). this was not setup for off roading at all

  • @pdy1971 They were not intended to be offroad vehicals its just fun to drive them offroad.

  • @pdy1971 thanks for posting your negative and useless comment..

  • This was not setup for off roading .... only street usage. No insult intended... just fact.

  • @pdy1971 aaaaand. thanks again.....

  • @pdy1971 dude post vids of his cool ass truck, and your all like "i have problems with this..... blah blah blah..."

  • To Me this is still the top Deuce video there is, Ive had mine 2 years now and this vid is still the top. Nicely Done! Cheers and God Bless!

  • god this video makes me feel fuckin patriotic

  • how did you make that trailer hitch

  • @Thecarguy24 I think his hitch came from the Govt. like that. Curt Mfg. sells a Class V hitch that will fit a Deuce perfectly. You just have to drill the holes in the frame, pretty easy. Curt part # 15605

  • What tires were these? Also, where did you pick this one up?

  • awesome! nice job on the video! awesome truck! cool music! outstanding!

  • i lov the sound...........a real cool truck

    greetings vrom germany

  • does this have the multifuel motor

  • Did singling it help the mileage any?

  • @yellow599rider Hard to say. It had those school bus tires on it when I got it. I have now upgraded to Michelin XL's, a much wider single. It gets somewhere around 10 -12 mpg.

  • @tjcouch That is amazing! My 1991 Grand Wagoneer with an AMC 360 gets 10-12 MPG's!

  • nothing like a whistler turbo diesel =D

  • Man these old military trucks put a tear in my eye... they are fucking aamzing

  • I need one of those....

  • i want one:)

  • @bamaboy145 I know where you can get one for 9000 in damn near mint cond

  • Love the video of the Whistler Turbo in your truck. Mine does not have it so I don't have the sound of it. I understand that the East Germans would hear the sound of the Whistlers to know when the US was going on drills!

  • i think u need michelin xl's

  • @drh1111 and now i do!

  • awesome truck and awesome music track! Texas A&M Aggie Band Centennial Ballad of the Green Berets, Patton, and Johnny Comes marching home!

  • If that isn't Richloam....

  • @BassMasterCHS Oops, just north of richloam! Just saw the credits. Sweet rig.

  • you have a beautiful rig!!!

  • that thing will probably outlast the earth. awesome rig and vid man.

  • i can pick these up in my area for like 3500-4500 their sweet!!!

  • This is the ultimate vehicle.

  • haha

  • needs better tires

  • i would make love to that fuckin truck. Like literally stick my pecker in the exhaust stack

  • love the truck, i would love to find one good condition up here in wisconsin, i would start a offroad tours company...

  • not too bad, but really annoying music-loop!!

  • Hook a babington atomizer and that Deuce would be the ultimate truck!

  • What is strange for me that in many US movies soviet military vehicles have large stars on their bodies. But it wasn't true, red star is a "logo" of aviation. Watching your military vehicles I often can see stars!

And could you answer a question: how old this model is?

  • it is a 1968.

  • The red star is a generalized symbol of communism, actually, and featured on many pieces of Soviet equipment, trucks and trains included. The VVS continues to use the red star, although the latest variant adds a blue outline around the innermost segment.

  • @jakwalker96 Then what good is it if it gets buggered up going through a mud hole? What fun is it? Don't brag about having 10lb brass balls when you have peanuts. There's no comparison between this and a Ural. I really think the US taxpayer is getting the shaft.

  • if you want to buy one, they are always on ebay.

  • I WANT ONE

  • awesome stuff ive always wanted one, i would like to put a modern cummins in it and have some true mud tires. but that is a badass rig. one day...one day

  • Super sound and super video

  • If i bought one, it would be my everyday drivier. You would be able to get me to get out. But fuel...........ugh, prolly a pain.

  • ox snot hill great place to play with the winch

  • at least you dont beat the shit out of it

  • those trucks go for like 2 grand, why not?

  • Considering the pavement tires and no lockers, I think it managed pretty well.

Nice video, thanks for sharing. :)

  • I met a guy ounce who had one, he said he paid $3000 for it an lakehurst airstation.

  • Just need the super singles on it, eh?

  • can you put a jake brake in to a m35???

  • were do i by 1

  • awesome. just awesome.

  • It doesnt seem like those tires would have much tread to them... I'm a fan of the 'original' pattern tires.... The tread is pretty agressive on them

  • They didn't at the time this video was shot - but I have since put Michelin XLs on it.

  • what size were those tires they look a little bigger than the stock 9.00 X 20

  • Great video!!! If I had the room I'd love to have a bobbed M35A.

  • where did you purchase it?

  • What are "Lockers"

  • "Lockers" are types of differentials that you can "lock" during off-road situations like what is shown on this video to keep your wheels from spinning and you becoming stuck.

  • lockers WAS NOT*ACTUALLY SHOWN being in use* in this video,The guy only mentions that he Needed those lockers to keep those front wheels from getting stuck, which is found on other vehicles-For that trucks year,Can LOCKING 4WD HUBS be installed IN FRONT? Some of those ANTIQUE AWD machines cant be switched out at the axles =(

  • very nice truck! now you need about 20 more for a convoy

  • does it have a straight 6 diesel?

  • definitely yes

  • it can burn reliably on a bunch of fuels, any combination of diesel, jet fuel, kerosene, heating oil or gasoline. With straight unleaded petrol, add 1 quart of 10-w30 per fifteen gallons of fuel.

  • I loved the Patton music that you chose for the video. I enjoyed hearing your "whistler" engine going through the mud.

I have a later model deuce with a Continental engine that does not have the whistle that yours does. I read a funny satire of whistler M35s starting up in West Germany almost causing the Eastern Bloc to go on a full alert.

The satire said that the East Germans could hear those whistlers starting up and thought WWIII was starting!

  • you got a eager beaver its the nickname for the single back tires i prefer duels but thats me nice truck

  • Singles are better offroad

  • i like the duals as well, looks better and has a higher weight capacity, except with the singles you only have to buy 6 tires instead of 10! LOL

  • i just recently got a deuce(finally) and it has the singles so im bummed about that but its still a deuce and its still awsome

  • turn the hubs around and put duals on it!

  • i just bought an 82 am general duece and a half and wanna know where you went to have a little fun

  • The Citrus Wildlife Management area tract of the Withlacoochee State Forest.

  • NICE VERY NICE

  • how much did you get your truck for? and where did you get it?

  • 3000, from a private owner in Tampa.

  • wow $3000 for a w/w thats not too bad, when did you get her?

  • About 3 years ago . . . they are even cheaper now that the Nation Guard has sent all of their trucks to auction.

  • wrong kind of tires is ur problem and like u said u need locking hubs

  • Nice... kind of like an American Ural :)

  • throw some a/t's or m/t's on there and you could go anywhere!

  • M35 trucks were built by Studebaker, Kaiser-Jeep, REO and in the ROK, Kia. They are military M35 trucks no matter who built them.

  • Love the vid and the deuce.... I gotta make another video now!

  • I am not going to argue with you . . . but the Jeep logo and brand is printed right on the data plate that is riveted to the dash . . . . and you may want to check your source on the GP reference . . . . of all the theories of how "Jeep" came about, that one is the least plausible. One suggestion would be the wikipedia entry for "Jeep" - pay close attention to the technical manual references.

  • Nooooo, it is a Jeep. . . . . Kaiser Jeep had the military contract to build them from about '65 to '70.

"d-E-U-c-e and a half" is the fond nickname given to them by the servicemen, referring to the cargo capacity when operating off road; they are rated to carry 5 tons of cargo on the highway.

  • ProFriend's self-deleted post: ProFriend has replied to your comment on M35A2 Offroad:

Just because Kaiser made both vehicles doesn't make this a Jeep. Jeep, like "duece and a half", was a nickname at that time (It's since become a trademark). The name Jeep comes from the official name General Purpose Vehicle, or GP. People pronounced it "jeep" and the name stuck. So, your M35 is not a jeep.

  • your an idiot ProFriend, I bet you think my M715 isnt a Jeep either. If it was made by Kaiser Jeep its a Jeep.

  • i want one

  • Does the front have lockers

  • No . . . . if you watch the video during the hill climb you will see only one tire turning. . . . .

  • Since this video was made-Did U managed to add LOCK-OUT HUBS to that front end? Or is that truck too old ?(Not compatible to switch out parts from Junked vehicle that big that did have LOCKERS on it?) What LOCK-OUT HUB FRONT END is that truck compatabile with?

  • cool

  • that truck truly reeks of badass i will own one one day

  • Wow that bessy gets around great what tires you running ?

I'm going to be running 11.00R20 G177 goodyears on my stude M275 truck tractor !

    AMX

  • Goodyear 286's in this video - but I have now ditched them for Mich. XL's

  • Awesome! I would love to drive one of those! I always love to go offroading.

By the way, what is the average MPG?

  • Hard to tell b/c there is always some atypical part of the trip . . . . idling for a long period, or off-roading, or pulling someone stuck out . . . . but I would guess 10-12 MPG.

  • Wow. Much better than what I've expected. Thanks for the info.

  • Nice truck. I used to drive the duece and a half. Thanks.

  • it true what they say. "little boys never growup, there toys only get bigger." cool vid, wish i had an old deuce.

  • Outstanding!!!!!

    5 rating and *add favorite!

  • real american truck :)

  • Whats missing are a set NDCC tires, while what are on the truck may run smoother and quieter on road they arent much good off road when going through that wet clay .

  • I have 395 Michelin XLs on it now.

Pictures are on my blog at tjcouch. com

  • yeah my dad has a deuce. its pretty crazy. we havnt taken it offroad though

  • Looks good. after some lockers you could make it up that spot on trail 14.

  • Actually, the new XLs did the tricked - I walked right up it a couple of weekends ago.

  • Cool deal!

  • duce is nice hear in lebanon we call it rio .. but russial ural and zil trucks i think are a little better

  • what motor does it mount?

  • Continental LDT-465 Multi fuel, w/ "C" turbo.

  • nice vid. i need to get some of my m35 up. i dont have the c turbo i got the d but i have heard that the d flows more cfm. ( i still like the sound of yours ) nice truck looks clean,

  • Awesome video! Keep up the good work, using it like its supposed to be used!

  • yay they like the video :)

  • is that what you ust to get unstuck

  • i think these trucks look 100x cooler with the duallies

or if ya get the 46in michillens ive seen that once before and it looked pretty sick.

  • Me too . . . .as soon as I have $1,000 loose change and a free weekend to flip the hubs, she's going back to that!

  • She sounds and looks good. Nice driving too. Some of these guys posting on YouTube thrash the hell out of their trucks.

  • Easy does it!

  • Love the C turbo! Did you turn uup the pump at all?

  • No . . . I don't have a pyrometer installed, and would hate to over stress old girl.

  • 11.00 NDT's aren't bad on the price. Saw you were thinking of getting duals, I think singles are better for traction.(and a heck of lot less work to get on and off)

  • Very professional video! What year and make is your Deuce? I have a 1968 M35A2C W/W and have a few puny and wimpy videos on YouTube. I just started learning how to upload most recently when my son was home on leave. Looking forward to more of the same from you! Thanks for posting this most interesting video!

  • It's a '68 too!

  • Lockers???? No you need to get rid of those tire and put the NDT's back on it ...........would have never been a problem.

    Awsome video!

  • You are right about the tires . . . I would love to have the XLs from Michelin that they are putting on the trucks now.

  • this is one of the best off road deuce videos i've ever seen. thanks for making it.
