I just heard this on our local All Classical 89.9 FM in Portland Oregon. It tremendously comforted all my ills in life . . . music may be the most underappreciated form of healing. M -2012
@rlane91 The poems were by Rainer Maria Rilke, who wrote both in German and French. Morten Lauridsen, who is Dean of Composition at the Univ. of Southern Calif,. set four of Rilke's poems to music under the title of Les Chansons des Roses.
@rlane91 Although I don't doubt a group of Polyphony's skill level would have any trouble, they don't 'truly' match up in this recording. If you listen closely (easiest on 480p) you'll hear a slight break right after 4:39. This indicates that it's most likely another recording, unless they got interference at that exact spot. Why don't they do it between any of the other songs, such as Contre Qui, Rose? My guess is they wanted to match up flawlessly to the piano. Even masters aren't perfect.
Beautiful singing, beautiful music, but the french prosody of these songs is absolutely horrible. It's so obvious that the composer didn't know french well! :( It's sad because the music is lovely!
Amazing!
