this guy is a major hack....he is putting the lives of people in danger with his "expert" advice...there are special vacuum made for a fireplace...a standard shop vac will not have the dual stage filter made to pull up ash which is very fine....also, an ash vac is made using materials, hosing, and filters which are non-flamable....avoide this jerk guys...he is less than worthless
@CaffeineBuzz if you want to vacuum out ash just buy shop vac filter bags that are rated for drywal dust thats what i use and it works like a charm just make sure the ash is cold.
