  • other than a built in burner, are there any other differences between the 1880 and 1824

  • Don't know if I'll try this. I have the Edirol and a couple of VS1880s but HATE using PCs so much to make music. I'll have a look around to see what Reaper does and how it might improve things for me. However, you're a clever bloke and THANK YOU for doing this. Be lucky OK? You deserve it!

  • Simply, you're STAAARRRR!

  • Can do this with Logic Pro? if so are there digital to firewire converters?!

  • Well done.

  • what song is that on the intro ??

  • @Chuck4Abuck It is the demo song they used to include with Reaper back in the day. I don't think they include it anymore.

  • I think you are now ready to run for public office

  • I couldn't find that specific edirol "Edirol UA-1" on ebay:( Also, I've got questions, and I'll scroll through to see if their asked/answered.

    1. When connecting the vs1880 and comp (with Reaper), is audio/midi/etc transferred to, and will remain in the computer?

  • @soulvibee

In this setup, the VS is only used as a controller for Reaper. Everything (audio, etc) still remains in Reaper.

  • That's great news! Thanks funkybeat007!

  • You inspired me to download Reaper.. and I already like them because they let you download it in it's entirety for FREE for the first month. A trial period. Thanks for putting the word out, and keep true!

  • How can I hook up my VS1680 to my Cakewalk Sonar 7 Program ?

  • In this video, I was using an Edirol UA-1D interface. It's currently discontinued, but any usb to spdif interface should work.

  • i seriously need help. i just bought a new cakewalk 1-in 1-out usb midi interface and i thought for sure i would be able to use it as a real time recorder for my music. i have a roland vs 880ex and i have a digital out but i only have a midi interface. can i use the midi out on my VS to send the overall master track to Reaper. and can you explain how i could do that? a feel flustered lol

  • 1. you need a sound card that has digital in/out like m-audio 2496 sound card and spdif cable you should be able to get one less then a hundred bucks 2.when you get your sound card connect the spdif cable to your vs-880 digital out, then connect the other end of the spdif cable to your computer sound card digital in. 3. go to computer recording software for new sound card name in options menu select spdif input on your computer. this is how you record your master track from 880 to pc /mc

  • URGENT! i need to record using my guitar, ive hooked it all up and i can record, however, the sound is delayed, out of sync! can anyone help?????? tnx

  • If the sound is delayed when you turn on the "Monitor Input" option, then you are hearing latency. You should download and install the "ASIO4ALL" driver. That should eliminate that latency.

  • it may be an issue with the BIOs of your PC or with your audio device drivers

  • appreciate it

  • HI FUNKYBEAT do you think I can set my 1680 as a control surface for Pro tools???

  • Have you heard anything. I am trying to see if I can use my 1680 as a control surface for DP...

  • Thanks. I appreciate your Reaper clips. Well done.

  • Good video funky beats im going to see if i can get my VS1880 to work with my edirol UA-4FX any suggestions?

  • Great video!

I was wondering why you use the SigmaTel card for an output when you have a much higher quality output on the Edirol? It can feed back into your Roland, where you can use the VS1880's physical outs to connect to your speakers. You'd have a much more accurate monitoring experience.

Thanks again. I encourage you to post more! I am a recent Reaper convert (from Pro Tools, then Tracktion) and can use all the help I can get!

  • I am using the SPDIF in on the 1880 to recieve signal from my mic preamp for recording, so the digi in is being used already. I send the stereo outs of the 1880 to another mixer which is connected to my monitors. I really have no issues with the SigmaTel card using the WaveOut setting. It sounds really good over here.

Reaper is really nice, huh? I am loving it. Thanks for your comments!

  • Just what the Doctor ordered. Thankee!
