Speaking as a white guy who has been into rock music most of my life i have to say that this style of music is by far my favourite Black music .I could never get into soul (always seemed too slick and polished for my tastes), or even Motown apart from a few classic exceptions, but from around 1970 the Reggae songs , courtesy mainly of the Trojan label that were hitting the UK music scene were tremendous. I had this album in the mid eighties and it is truly a much understated work.

You should check out Sly and the Family Stone 'In Time'  and the Isley Brothers 3+3 and from there Ry Cooder and the Moula Banda Orchestra. Rik James. The Staple Singers.

Then Ali Farka and Muddy Waters and.... then you have a life's listening ahead of you. But what a joy!
