@ counsel,i am married to an indian,and have traveled/lived in India,and yes,there are part's of India that are very under-developed and have never seen an elevator before.I should know,my husband's aunt came from India to visit us,her very first time ever.We went to the mall,and she saw the escolator and just starred at it.She honestly really didn't know what to make of it.I had to explain to her in Hindi how it worked,she was really scared,she kept asking me if it was going to eat her,lol.

Let me explain,many people that come from India to the states for the first time,have never seen an escalator.Some have never even seen a mall before.You may think they are stupid,their not.They just have not been expsoed to western inventions.

@OneSmartKitty sorry but this doesn't make sense. there are a lot of escalators in India. Assuming she had enough money to travel to the US we can assume she has enough money to visit a mall at least once. EVEN IF she didn't, however, there are escalators at the airports on both sides. Finally, she will have definitely watched TV before, and I'm sure she's seen someone riding an escalator before. She's just too lazy/dumb to go find an up escalator

If you notice, she isn't TRYING she is SUCCEEDING. She's damn near at the top. Laugh if you want but by the time you're about a third of the way up to the top your legs are really throbbing because you've gone up like 5 flights already, and this chick's gotten farther than I ever did.

@LuckySTARS90 The escalators in the mall here go faster than this. They're skinnier, too. To try and go up the down you basically have to jog-run up them and by the time you're done if you keep up the pace you'll go up equal to 15 or 20 flights.
