hi,again.martial arts or traditional dance are involved in philosophy, religion, medical, climate and bodily habitus of species, obviously their history.the origin is recognized in ancient Egypt by mural painting and customs of moderns Egyptian people.ancient Greece is said as hometown of modern sports,Pankration was played in Greece or Italy at Rome era, then developed as Wrestling in Europe.philosopher platon participated in Olympia or Isthmian games.
@ sakura0jp0aikidodesu believe what you want and say what you want. Freedom of speech is your right. The way I see it, you are just talking to have something to say. The system is effective, the techniques are used in a variety of martial arts, so are they all fake? If you don't like Kuk Sool Won, its ok, there are others that do. But if you ever come to San Antonio, feel free to come in and we'll go through some of the so called "fake" techniques.
hi,thank you for your reply,Don't be insulted.i don't want to say you at heart, since you and students are seemed enjoying. but it is too important to let lie any longer.japanese ancestors shouldn't have taught all kinds of techniques as equal to korean, like secret recipes by french chef.korean say that Kuk Sool Won is originated by korean traditional martial art.really..?
historically, folding fan was invented in japan influenced from china fan,and it was descended to Portugal about 1540,introduced to Italy, then it was arranged to decorate luxuriously in Italy and France, and Catherine de Medicis made it blowing up in the social circles.then the folding fan was settled as noble customs by Marie de Medicis, she was married with Henri IV in 16 century.later it came back to china Shanghai, finally home to japan.
the martial folding fan is originated in china, the techniques is from taiji, taichi(太極拳) or kunfu.japanese iron folding fan in 16c.e.was just used as shield.the demonstration of Kuk Sool Won with dressed fan is very beautiful, but its very danger....even the edge of feathery or flap ribbon can be lost eye,if it would took softly, the pretty fan change as weapon in swing around.
the one of the reason almost martial arts prohibit to take something that to get off the accident,it should be applied in just a demonstration.Kuk Sool Won is mixed with the techniques which chinese and japanese in hazard...there are big difference between chinese wushu and japanse aikido(合気道) or jyu-jyutus(柔術),
that are as ma'ai;timing and keeping of proper distance(間合い) and zanshin (間合い);posture following attack, deemed to show both physical and mental preparedness.i think the last pause is from wushu, but the grappling is from aikido...then it is generated a great contradiction.if you fix the joint, you should not take something, its danger.
the aim of using folding fan in taichi is to keep body balance.try to take a pencil by either, and get your hand up with balancing on one foot!its very difficult since the equation of human body would be broken down even a little of heft.the same problems are raising up in korean martial arts, for example the demonstration of taekondo is very fun since their dynamic jumping kick etc..
but the floor has not enough soothing mats, then sometimes they tear their Achilles tendon....
@sakura0jp0aikidodesu geez dude honestly just get off the computer. After awhile your just starting to make yourself sound stupid and everyone else has surprisingly respected you enough not to say anything about that. If you practiced martial arts you will know that most martial arts are very alike. Its how they are performed and taught that is the difference. If you want to talk about martial arts and the differences between them then write a book. Otherwise shut up and join Kuk Sool Won.
@sakura0jp0aikidodesu and maybe then you will have a better understanding of what the difference is between a true martial artist and some dude behind a computer spittin limited knowledge of techniques that you dont even practice. Maybe then you will know real respect for these teachers.
They aren't fake they are just long winded, poor, over complicated, soft and totally impossible to do when under the effects of adrenaline (As in when being attacked, there is no way you will have the fine motor movement needed in that situation to most of this video off) - Not to mention, in a lot of "KSW" techniques, you fall over and throw yourselves to the floor, it's pretty pathetic, and no, it isn't a break fall, it's throwing yourself.
quote from wiki "Following in Korean tradition, Kuk Sool Won uniforms are black and not white because white is a color associated with death in Korea"really????? korea are proud that "we are white nation"white is korean traditional color since they didn't have dye till modern age.they had imported the black and other color cloth from china till 20ad. korean are making the falsification of history easily.fraud korean! later i will explain the applesauce history and techniques.
moreover dragon, shenlong(神龍)is originated chinese, why korea are stolen any other culture??? why the uniform is white or lightness, even cooking chef wear white, since cleanliness is needed for bodily exercise and martial art as manner.even the older and exhausted uniform, keeping clean and washing is for mind that is important.
gold is vain splendor color, its not appropriate since its ruled that any instructor must not be proud their cathedra with the unique uniform chickenshit.basically, yellow and gold is noble for emperor or monks in china.however its mean meanness and betrayal from Judah of isukarionte in EU.korea was colonized by china for 1000 year till 1910,their king could wear only red color.
its not martial art anymore, cult using martial art to get money.firstly, the rule of uniform is very funny.the pleats is colored by degree, silver, red, gold.Surprisingly, grandmaster can wear that All Gold Dobok(wang-sa) with twin dragon emblems...what that???martial art is not the method to be bossy for other people and students.white and black belt are accepted in karate, judo, aikido but its for getting behind the danger the expert do not play in abandon with beginner.
cool!!!but fake korean style...shameless!! korean deceive even children. Kuk Sool Won is korean fabricated art that "selling counterfeit martial arts"its deformed Chinese Wushu,tai-chi(太極拳),shaolin(少林寺) kun-fu basically and mixed with trivial copied the grappling technic of aikido(合気道) jyujutsu(柔術),karate(空手)by shallow cleverness....fraud Korean.
That's a Korean cult. Kuk Sool Won does not appear in any historical record of Japan, China, the West, or even Korea. It's just a fabricated tradition.
@HaedongKumdoIsaLie - whatever, you seem to like to hear yourself talk. I guess you were around when all the arts were created and you are the "know it all" of martial arts. Come visit us in San Antonio and learn a bit of the art before you go running off at the mouth about it. We'd be happy to have you come train with us.
ok numero uno, kuk sool won is the only martial that can successfully show documented proof of history in the world. if it wasnt for real then why doies the korean gov't consider it a korean national treasure, and if u want proof the korean govt came and did a documentary on ksw for that reason. and number two, even if it was a cult, the stuff works and if u came to my school u would be wanting to join this so called cult.
really good video sir, your techniques are awesome! now for a small negative the hip hop wernt for me but hey you cant please everyone! keep up the good work sir. ksn jon
Thanks for the compliment, but its NOT AKIDO, its Kuk Sool Won. As some of the movements may look similar to Aikido, there are many differences; notice the headbutts, high kicks, fans and rope techniques. Our arts is comprised of many different aspects that go far beyond most peoples thoughts. Once again, thanks for the compliment though.
hmm, i always figured it was maybe like a combination of all the korean arts. so i thought the techniques in this video might have been adopted from hapkido. but im pretty sure im wrong, please educate me teacher
Joky Charlie here. I love the vid sir, and yes his school is awesome. I miss it sooo much! It IS torture at times but if you do it at home enough it's a little easier ;>)
I'm training hard with my son Geremy at home with my books and we will return to KSW soon! My wife is even getting into it some. I have tried Wing Tsun and Kenpo since I left KSW and they were ok but Kuk Sool is the real deal!!
Well right now, i'm practicing at a small school in Beaumont, Texas. The instructors are decent but a lot of my fellow classmates aren't disciplined at all and treat the martial art with a lack of proper respect. I'm thinking of switching to another school in Houston or Dallas eventually.
