There were like a houndred of these above Oslo from around 24:00 and out, just as we started shooting fireworks, they came from all directions, different alititudes, even against the wind, so don't try to sell me on the lantern thing, they were flying way to fast at times as well.

Those are just flying Chinese lanterns, you can get them all over the place, in fact some kids were launching them from the playing field in Cherry Avenue just last night.

HAHA! I just figured it out! I saw similar things in my hometown in Croatia. Those are either FLARES or TRACER BULLETS.

You would be amazed how slow they seem to move! BTW I'm 100% sure that's it because my dad worked for a bomb squad, he knows such things...

Hi, saw the same in Southampton at 12:35am, perfect formation, flying against the wind..relaxing and NOT A SOUND. Not a Chinese Lantern, never as big and bright. Let's not make any conclusions or impose our opinions on others. Happy New Year!

I too saw this at 12.13am new years morning while outside watching fireworks coming from the south and moving at great speed and low altitude on a straight horizontal flight path heading towards Manchester

Seen here too in the North East, around 12:25AM and then twice again much later that day between 5:20PM and 5:40PM. Not any kind of "lantern", the objects were seen to move across the sky, hover and then zig-zag around before moving upward and going out of view and then this same pattern was repeated 10 to 20 minutes later.
