I stumbled on this album by chance at the age of 12. Found it in a pawn shop for 3$ it's worth 100 times that. I'll be jamming this shit till the day I'm gone.
"....son its in my chromosomes to rock this, I got this, (watch this) assemble my rap tap ya pockets, knock this, stimulate nerve ends and chakras, smart art, breakin apart hearts in darkness" Mos Def is tooooo ILL. Man I love Hip Hop. Seriously.
been bumping this whole album for a solid 6 years now, i feel like this is the prime candidate for GOAT. definitely represents hip hop as a whole, sickest lineup backed by some of the finest production ever. never gets old!
yes this album takes me back to the days right after i got out of HS. Hip hop was at the pinnacle, especially the underground artists like Mos at that time. Underground never sounded better! Lets bring back Rawkus records!
10 years ago I ordered this CD thru a local CD/vinyl store. I NEVER knew it would become one of the most epic CDs I EVER owned. This poor CD is WORE ASS OUT!!
Amazing track. I'm ashamed to say I called myself a Mos fan without knowing what he did on the Rawkus compilation albums. THIS is hip hop at it's finest. Props to Hi-Tek for the great beat beat and instrumentals.
man i wish i tryed to blow up as a rapper, most rappers out today have more motivation than talent,i kill half these dudes, but i cant hate, they have the drive to do it while more talented rappers sit on their ass.
you temporary like a weather pattern; forgotten like you never happened - they'll never say 'whatever happened to Mos?'; my light shine close from the east to the left coast!
bought this cd when it came out in '98 or so. almost EVERYBODY slept on it man because jay-z ruled the airwaves then (*yawn). no wonder everybody thinks the cd is rare. This has always been a hip hop classic and a great way to close out what the 90s meant for hiphop. i miss the glory days of rawkus.
@enycepinoyism For real dude I co-sign EVERY sentiment right there. I'm from the UK and after this dropped HMV & other record stores dropped the Hip Hop & Hip Hop import sections where we'd pick up this stuff on vinyl or CD. After that, it was all labelled "Urban music" and basically only stocked mainstream. So sad.
@nonphixional1 man i feel you on that, my cd is all scratched from me transferring it to different players wherever i went. The case is all fucked up too. but its just timeless bro i didnt realize how rare the cd was now! would've taken better care of it!
Perhaps the only way you can make Mos Def's flow any more epic is to put it on an album with so many underground hip hop gods and then have the whole thing mixed by the Beat Junkies. This album is pure win, I'll be listening to this shit for another 20 years! Classic!
YO!!!!!!! this brings it back kid! this was the only cd I had left after my wip got broken into when I was in Hawaii. and the only CD i would bump MAD loud just to let niggaz know NEW YORK WAS IN DA BUILIDIN!!!!!
I broke my cd player in my car when I got Soundbombing 2 back in the day. I played it so much and for so long nonstop that it actually overheated. The cd didnt survive all of that either.
hip hop from this era definetely puts new shit to shame, lol. Nothing compares to early/mid/late 90's underground, everything else sounds like garbage.
You won't believe this but the beat is taken note for note from this game for the super nintendo called "Secret of Mana". It was a role-playing game involving dragons and stuff. The beat plays when the team of three first discover the mana tree in the game. The game has great music but I'd never thought I'd hear Mos rhyming to it until now.
Such a sick sample. That's awesome that you knew where it came from. I thought it was Piano out of an old Billy Holiday song. Awesome catch, man! A testament to how intricate true hip hop is!
i uploaded talibs last track off soundbombing 1 2000 seasons but its not coming up when i search for it in my profile its uploaded though, if anyone wants to help me out ill post it, comment here or to me if you can and ill check back. its my first video and i dont know what im doing wrong so please help. thanks

Sick track. I highly recommend listening to EvanAwakes mix of it, I've had the thing on replay for hours and it only gets better and better.
Raelsatu 8 months ago
@Raelsatu Absolutely. EvanAwakes' remix is sick. It even makes Mos Def's delivery seem more charismatic.
