Hey Everybody! I have just released my new album "Unhinged" which is very inspired by my all time favorite musician Akira Yamaoka and his game soundtrack work. You can stream or download the whole album for free on my youtube channel!
I put his song in my iPod before I went to my little village --lost in the mountains-- last winter. once there, I listened to this at 4 am, immerse in a dreamy, thick layer of fog that surrounded me, as the song was being played. I couldn't see anything, it was... just amazing.
This sounds like there's no time to feel the already deepened sadness inside...gotta keep moving...surviving....rushing & stressing......working. A battle to be lost
I put down my Favorite OST from Silent Hill 1-3 (The Best of the seires) for 1. it was Blood Tears for 2. It was Pianissimo Epilogue for 3 it was Breeze in monochrome night ^_^
I put his song in my iPod before I went to my little village --lost in the mountains-- last winter. once there, I listened to this at 4 am, immerse in a dreamy, thick layer of fog that surrounded me, as the song was being played. I couldn't see anything, it was... just amazing.
Laura is a little girl that was in the hospital with Mary that she considered adopting. There's an ending where James is walking in the graveyard with Laura, I think he may have adopted her in the ending.
I don't know why this music makes many feel depressed, though I can see it seeming a little melancholy. But I hear so much hope in this track; it's bursting, overflowing with it. Like being illuminated after being in the darkness for so long. It's also like finding peace after hardship, and therefore it's the perfect piece of music for the completion of the game - which is easily the best game experience ever.
FUCK IT... this song makes me feel like falling in a REALLY FUCKED UP depression.. Music this way, so expressive, is fucking art. I love Akira Yamaoka he's Fucksized
@EnriquePage91 What a wonderful vocabulary you have! :P lol. srry, I'll TRY to stop annoying you, it's just that was the first thing that came into my mind and I like your comment! ^_^ so true..
My theory is that Laura was somewhat of a 'taunting-lesson' from Silent Hill. Like....it's like as if Silent Hill was saying "This is what your daughter would have looked like if Mary was still alive" and at the same time Laura disliking James and saying he never loved Mary is some weird way of trying to get him to realise how much pain he caused her.....but like WiktorWillow said, it's just a theory I had... the only people who know the true meaning behide Laura is Team Silent.
@Firemoon454 How can you say that? Silent Hill has plenty of peaceful songs that give the listener a moment to reflect upon the events of the game, or even their own subconscious.
@MobilePissCannon Well....this one is the only one that made me feel peaceful and drowsy, and I was only addressing SH2, not all of them....don't act smart with me, I've watched/played every SH game at least three times each (six times for 2, my favorite one) so I'm well aware there are other peaceful songs, "Tears Of" from SH1 comes to mind....
étrange, mais plausible, je n'avais jamais pensé que laura, puisse être une manifestation de Marie plus jeune, et en même temps, c'est plus logique, car aucun enfant ne pourrait survivre dans ce monde démoniaque, comme celui là!
Gorgeous sound design. SH2 & its soundtrack has been a part of my life for years and leaves me astounded every single time. Anyone who knows how on earth Akira constructed these sounds (or the pad sounds for the likes of Heaven's Night, The Day of Night or White Noiz... I COULD GO ON!) feel free to contact me/reply for an entralling music-tech related conversation. Probably the deepest game music I ever heard. P.S. sorry if you read this comment on other tracks.
This makes me think of my cat, Zibby...she was 13 years old, and we euthanized her earlier today. It was sad, but in a way it was peaceful, because she seemed to sense that it was her time. She was more than a cat...she was a dear friend to me, and I'll probably think of her from now on whenever I hear this song.
@tybash I couldn't have done that: she would have died a painful, miserable death. As it stood, this wasn't murder...I euthanized her because I loved her.
@templar19 Now why would you euthanize it, instead of dying naturally? THAT would be her time to go. Not the time that you just go a put you're cat to sleep.. That;s sad though. I would never think of doing such a thing. Whenever I see your comment i just have to go and get my cat Rex and hold him :(
@JLala77I think part of being a responsible, loving owner is sparing your pet needless suffering. I believed she wasn't going to get better, and that she would never stop hurting as long as she lived. I hated euthanizing her, and sometimes, yes, I wonder if I made the right choice. But I loved her too much to let her suffer. Just love Rex as much as you can, and if it ever comes to it, ask yourself...how can you best express your love for someone who can't stop hurting?
@JLala77 Your comment makes no sense. Why would she euthanize her if she wasn't in need of it? I also find it ironic you're posting this sort of comment on a video in which the protagonist kills his wife to end her pain. Euthanization is moral under the correct circumstances. Any experienced professional would tell you the same.
@Slightlybaka Actually, it not about it making sense to you. It's my opinion. She clearly stated in her comment to me that her cat was suffering. I love my pets and if they were suffering, I could not handle seeing something I love in pain. If I were in her shoes, I'd probably do the same thing, but it would break my heart to do so. Tell me, if you had a pet you loved dearly that was suffering and you had a choice to put it out of it's misery, would you? Or would you let it continue to suffer?
@JLala77 What are you talking about...? I clearly stated I agreed with euthanization under the right circumstances. You're the one who got upset when you learned she euthanized her cat to put it out of her misery.
@Slightlybaka Uhh you said my comment made no sense dude. And yes, I was upset. Having 3 cats that I love dearly like family, of course I'd be upset hearing about euthanization. But that's only because I thought she euthanized it just because it was aging, when really it was because it was in pain. And who can watch something you love so much suffer? If there was some misunderstanding with my comment to you, I'm sorry.
@JLala77 I was referring to the comment you first posted. The one where you jumped to the conclusion of her killing her cat just because she was getting old, which by the way, is illegal. I don't understand how you didn't get my point in the first place. It's pretty precise how I said "Euthanization is moral under the correct circumstances."
@oskulock even if it's M+18, it doesn't mean that it can't be a sad and emotional game. If you had actually finished it you'd have known that already, or you weren't paying enough attention to it or you aren't even sensible.
Also I do care for their comment, and also I believe the person who commented it has great emotions and love for their late cat.
@gostoneph17 But thats still bullshit! >_> How can anyone turn such an awesome game into a pile of melodramatic crap? And yes i have completed every single one of them on multiple platforms, only the Wii games are remaining for me. And yes i do love the music, its great, but i really dont want to hear some guy whining from his cat when im trying to listen something like this.
@oskulock Aren't you overreacting a little bit? The person wants to share his feelings and his opinion for the song. Also, if I were you, I wouldn't say that it's a melodramatic crap. The person's pet died, and I think you know that pets like cats or dogs make strong bonds with their masters (most of the times).
reminds me of the time me and my friend had a convo about not truly being humans, just me and her in a world where we are ment to be tested until we are ready for the outer shell, of a true life. Not heaven, like, maybe for war, or own personal uses. Like war. Rofl.
A cleansing rain...despite what happened, and the terrible things we learned, we can accept it and move on, start a new life. It's what Mary would've wanted.
@Animeb0y Whoooa, deep imagery there. It's much different than what is usually posted on Silent Hill and I can feel what you're feeling most likely in the exact same way. Kudos to you.
@ZanderoAwesomo I know, and it sucks. I can't get my best friend to play the game because he would rather be playing Gears of War because he thinks that game is the epitomy of awesome. I mean, yes, I like Gears of War but that's for gameplay only.
@ZanderoAwesomo I constantly insult him for it. He thinks that gameplay is everything whereas I can sit through bad gameplay if the story is captivating me. Which Silent Hill 2 did. The only game I think has a good story that he likes is Final Fantasy X which I think has a great story but you should like more than just one game for story.
@zhoban i dont think ill ever encounter another game like silent hill 2 .not even thinking on the horror aspect but the game had so much in it like backstory metaphors philosophies...ive never really encountered that in a game before
I'm really terrible at them too just because I hate sitting there trying to grind for levels. That is one of the most boring things ever in my opinion. I mostly finished because I wanted to play it because I loved the game so much and to give my friend another reason to play Silent Hill 2. Which he keeps putting off because he has "other" games he needs to get to. Which he keeps playing one that isn't even in the list of games he wants to beat.
@zhoban no offence your friend sounds like a right dick but its his loss hes missin out on a lot...yeah i think thats wat really made me stop i remember playin ffxii and man i lost so much time grinding in that game i got so tired and pissed off.i think thats why in ffxiii that they gave a new combat system so it would be speedier and easier or maybe i dont know.meh but yeah it does feel good when ya kill a boss and get an epic cutscene but it tends to get unbearable when the game overdoes it
@ZanderoAwesomo That's why at first I had to have goals. Like before I even left the Salvage Ship at the beginning I forced Tidus to learn his final Overdrive. Which the only way you could do that is by using his Overdrive 80 times. And then when I was getting ready to leave on the ship for Kilika I made sure to have Yuna learn Cure.
@zhoban agh my problem was i am not tactical at all.i never actually played x i watched my brother play it.i played x-2 tho...fuckin waste of time xii i liked purely because i could run around during battle that may sound stupid and it is but by having the enemy lock on you and you around a rock and while hes chasing you your friends kick his ass...yeah see wat i mean im not tactical
@ZanderoAwesomo I'm not either, I'm replaying Final Fantasy X and then going to play Final Fantasy X-2. Final Fantasy 13 just looks like a Auto-Battle orgy
@ZanderoAwesomo No, personally I've never been a big fan of the Final Fantasy games. Though I bought Final Fantasy 7 for my PS3 so I have been trying to play that whenever I get bored enough to grind for levels. But right now I've mostly been playing Splinter Cell: Conviction and Alan Wake on my 360.
@zhoban i dont have a next i was sooo smart and got myself a trendy wii...a seriously shit console the only good games are smash bros and no more heroes...but im getting a little bit bored of consoles with all these crappy mainstream games coming out.but then again i dont have a 360 so who am i to say there generic and unoriginal
@zhoban uurr no after 4 the series went hell cos they sold the rights to people who dont understand the material and i dont like mario hes a overly advertised consumer whore...sorry if you find that im being a jerk about this yeah its probably a fun platformer but the story is three words save the princess or somthin..but i think im rather old for that anyway but yeah im thinkin of selling the wii.i geuss i feel dissapointed cos no ones takin full advantage of the hardware but meh i dont know
@zhoban look it was good talkin to you ill probably send you an invite for a friend or somthin but its like 2 in the morning and im seriously tired so il talk to you in the next life when we are both cats . but yeah ill send you the friend thingy...thing
i think they should have used this song for more than just your game results at the end. this is a mystifying and very beautiful song. they should have used it for like when someone was talking or somthing. maybe when they were walking around a certain room?
@FinalFantasyLov3r124 It would have worked yes, but in certain rooms since they already made a specific theme song title "Heavens Night" for the club itself.
I seriously had the theory for a while that Laura was like some manifestation of young Mary or something.
Pianissimo Epilogue is a gorgeous piece of music. The whole soundtrack is. And there is something about the front cover of the OST that I love-the way maria is laying down is not seductive,not angry,not even evil-Its just-peaceful. Almost as if she is sleepy or dreaming. I love this image-its haunting and beautiful.
Yeah, yeah... It makes sense... but, in the sub-scenario, when you are in Baldwin's mansion, observating for a doll in a child bedroom, Maria says something like that: "I think this should be great thing for Laura."; just like she knows Laura somewhere... should be her daughter or some relative? Or they are just friends? (I'm sorry if I'm writing something wrong: is because I'm an 11 years old child and I only study in a English Course!! I hope you can understand me)
When a woman is sprawled across the floor of a strip club in such a way--you kind of assume it would be a seductive type of picture-and maria is a seductive character to begin with. This picture is quite the opposite of what we expect of her--thats what I mean.
It is possible. I mean, the letter read at the beginning was cut off by James in the beginning. Also, supposedly the more you play the game the more the words in the letter start disappearing.
i have always loved akira's work so much. this is one of my fav SH2 songs. I do a couple of songs myself and most of my insiration comes directly from Akira Yamaoka (check my channel if u want to listen to some)! :D
i remember 1st time i finished this game,in the middle of the night,i've listened to this gem for almost an hour,lying on the sofa...some deep good times!
The only word that comes to mind when I first heard this song on the games was "resolution". I just stared at TV for at least 10 mins. thinking of how this game is one of the most under-appreciated games on the PS2. You don't have to try to understand every about a game to enjoy it. And SH2 is one of them. Games that have people to think out of the box are not so well received. And the music is off the chain!!!
i've never played this game but shit the songs alone make me wana go out and get it

@Animeb0y Whoooa, deep imagery there. It's much different than what is usually posted on Silent Hill and I can feel what you're feeling most likely in the exact same way. Kudos to you.

@Raltsman It's a good feeling for sure :P

This song makes me feel relaxed...and cold...
Nudge009 1 year ago 2
This prove my point that Silent Hill 1,2,3 and 4 are not just a video games but works of art. Why don't they make games like this any more?
FinalFantasyLov3r124 1 year ago
this game doesnt get enough credit.
ZanderoAwesomo 1 year ago 5
@ZanderoAwesomo It's because everyone thinks that after playing games like Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 that every game needs good combat.
zhoban 1 year ago
@zhoban its a really sad world we live in...because halo gamers and gears gamers are the dominant games species...infecting variety and killing it
ZanderoAwesomo 1 year ago
@ZanderoAwesomo I know, and it sucks. I can't get my best friend to play the game because he would rather be playing Gears of War because he thinks that game is the epitomy of awesome. I mean, yes, I like Gears of War but that's for gameplay only.
zhoban 1 year ago
@zhoban i dont mean to insult your friend but i think people like that have a lesser understanding than you and i
ZanderoAwesomo 1 year ago
@ZanderoAwesomo I constantly insult him for it. He thinks that gameplay is everything whereas I can sit through bad gameplay if the story is captivating me. Which Silent Hill 2 did. The only game I think has a good story that he likes is Final Fantasy X which I think has a great story but you should like more than just one game for story.
zhoban 1 year ago
@zhoban i did like ffx but i could never play it loved the cutscenes design and cultures but im really terrible at rpgs
ZanderoAwesomo 1 year ago
@zhoban i dont think ill ever encounter another game like silent hill 2 .not even thinking on the horror aspect but the game had so much in it like backstory metaphors philosophies...ive never really encountered that in a game before
ZanderoAwesomo 1 year ago
@ZanderoAwesomo Same here.
Which he keeps playing one that isn't even in the list of games he wants to beat.
zhoban 1 year ago
@zhoban no offence your friend sounds like a right dick but its his loss hes missin out on a lot...yeah i think thats wat really made me stop i remember playin ffxii and man i lost so much time grinding in that game i got so tired and pissed off.i think thats why in ffxiii that they gave a new combat system so it would be speedier and easier or maybe i dont know.meh but yeah it does feel good when ya kill a boss and get an epic cutscene but it tends to get unbearable when the game overdoes it
ZanderoAwesomo 1 year ago
@ZanderoAwesomo That's why at first I had to have goals. Like before I even left the Salvage Ship at the beginning I forced Tidus to learn his final Overdrive. Which the only way you could do that is by using his Overdrive 80 times. And then when I was getting ready to leave on the ship for Kilika I made sure to have Yuna learn Cure.
zhoban 1 year ago
@zhoban agh my problem was i am not tactical at all.i never actually played x i watched my brother play it.i played x-2 tho...fuckin waste of time xii i liked purely because i could run around during battle that may sound stupid and it is but by having the enemy lock on you and you around a rock and while hes chasing you your friends kick his ass...yeah see wat i mean im not tactical
ZanderoAwesomo 1 year ago
@ZanderoAwesomo I'm not either, I'm replaying Final Fantasy X and then going to play Final Fantasy X-2. Final Fantasy 13 just looks like a Auto-Battle orgy
zhoban 1 year ago
@zhoban dont get x-2 its a fuckin joke too much girly idiocy ruins it did u play ff12
ZanderoAwesomo 1 year ago
@ZanderoAwesomo No, personally I've never been a big fan of the Final Fantasy games. Though I bought Final Fantasy 7 for my PS3 so I have been trying to play that whenever I get bored enough to grind for levels. But right now I've mostly been playing Splinter Cell: Conviction and Alan Wake on my 360.
zhoban 1 year ago
@zhoban i dont have a next i was sooo smart and got myself a trendy wii...a seriously shit console the only good games are smash bros and no more heroes...but im getting a little bit bored of consoles with all these crappy mainstream games coming out.but then again i dont have a 360 so who am i to say there generic and unoriginal
ZanderoAwesomo 1 year ago
@ZanderoAwesomo That's why you get Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, the first good Silent Hill game since Silent Hill 3, and Super Mario Galaxy.
zhoban 1 year ago
@zhoban uurr no after 4 the series went hell cos they sold the rights to people who dont understand the material and i dont like mario hes a overly advertised consumer whore...sorry if you find that im being a jerk about this yeah its probably a fun platformer but the story is three words save the princess or somthin..but i think im rather old for that anyway but yeah im thinkin of selling the wii.i geuss i feel dissapointed cos no ones takin full advantage of the hardware but meh i dont know
ZanderoAwesomo 1 year ago
@ZanderoAwesomo I still think that some of his games are fun. If I'm going to be playing a platforming game then I prefer Ratchet and Clank.
zhoban 1 year ago
@zhoban look it was good talkin to you ill probably send you an invite for a friend or somthin but its like 2 in the morning and im seriously tired so il talk to you in the next life when we are both cats . but yeah ill send you the friend thingy...thing
ZanderoAwesomo 1 year ago
@zhoban i meant i dont have a 360 not next wtf
ZanderoAwesomo 1 year ago
i think they should have used this song for more than just your game results at the end. this is a mystifying and very beautiful song. they should have used it for like when someone was talking or somthing. maybe when they were walking around a certain room?
GentleLily101 1 year ago
@GentleLily101 I think they should have used it when you're in Heaven's Night. It suits it don't you think?
FinalFantasyLov3r124 1 year ago
@FinalFantasyLov3r124 It would have worked yes, but in certain rooms since they already made a specific theme song title "Heavens Night" for the club itself.
GentleLily101 1 year ago
@GentleLily101 Yeah I know about that. And you're right it would've been good in certain rooms

Laura takes after Maria.
I guess shes gonna look like that when she grows up !
nosojdjos 2 years ago 3
@nosojdjos
or maybe---they're all the same person!
WiktorWillow 2 years ago 76
no she looks sad there, love the music too so chill out.
luis22892 1 year ago 2
Yeah, yeah... It makes sense... but, in the sub-scenario, when you are in Baldwin's mansion, observating for a doll in a child bedroom, Maria says something like that: "I think this should be great thing for Laura."; just like she knows Laura somewhere... should be her daughter or some relative? Or they are just friends? (I'm sorry if I'm writing something wrong: is because I'm an 11 years old child and I only study in a English Course!! I hope you can understand me)
petercloktower 1 year ago 2
@WiktorWillow "not seductive" <- I don't fully understand -.-'
unKutTV 1 year ago
@unKutTV
When a woman is sprawled across the floor of a strip club in such a way--you kind of assume it would be a seductive type of picture-and maria is a seductive character to begin with. This picture is quite the opposite of what we expect of her--thats what I mean.
WiktorWillow 1 year ago 2
@WiktorWillow I know, right?

@WiktorWillow or maybe--they're not...
rlytgs 1 year ago
@rlytgs
....your point? Well tbh, I don't actually think that theory is true. It was just one of those theories I had while playing.
WiktorWillow 1 year ago
You do know that Maria isn't real, right?
zhoban 2 years ago
Isn't that a trip? One of the endings you can get is that James leaves with her.
So did he go insane?
Rohtix 2 years ago
It is possible. I mean, the letter read at the beginning was cut off by James in the beginning. Also, supposedly the more you play the game the more the words in the letter start disappearing.

i have always loved akira's work so much. this is one of my fav SH2 songs. I do a couple of songs myself and most of my insiration comes directly from Akira Yamaoka (check my channel if u want to listen to some)! :D

highrolln754 2 years ago
The only word that comes to mind when I first heard this song on the games was "resolution". I just stared at TV for at least 10 mins. thinking of how this game is one of the most under-appreciated games on the PS2. You don't have to try to understand every about a game to enjoy it. And SH2 is one of them. Games that have people to think out of the box are not so well received. And the music is off the chain!!!
