  • I cant believe they had this!! haha....Come to Toronto!!! Its unique being 23 and having a legion of friends who know the lyrics haha

  • it's up and down the dial.

  • What comes next after "town to town up and down. . . ."?

  • With Bootsy,I was hoping the crowd was singing the CLOSING theme to WKRP. Now that is some sincere, heart filled lyrics.e

  • Well that was weird. Still think Bailey is was incredibly hot. Probably still is.

  • Mary Ann or Ginger &

    Bailey or Jennifer

  • @default99telecom I've had 'em all!

  • wtf? lol catchy tune though, gotta admit

  • These people are not into it... seems a bit booring. I did like the show a lot...

  • I was hoping for the real theme song what a let down.

  • Why? this is so weird, ha ha

  • I wonder if there is a WKRP there, will they have one?

  • Nope, that was ficticious. The closest thing you will find is 550 AM and TV-12, WKRC.

  • I wonder why nobody ever DID use those call letters?

  • Good point.

  • Their mascot was Bailey in a fish suit.

  • Actually if you watch the episode from the first season it was Herb who was first in the fish suit. There was a classic fight scene with the WPIG pig mascot in a men's room where everyone got arrested. Bailey wore the fish suit briefly in one later episode.

  • Probably because KRP = crap.

  • The call letters have been used at a couple of places...once just outside of Atlanta and another station actually somewhere in Ohio used them. I work for a readio research company and checked that info years ago.

  • WKRP was actually based on WQXI (790 AM)in Atlanta during the sixties. It's a sports talk station now, but the station manager was known for pulling crazy stunts including, yes, a turkey giveaway gone wrong (though not like in the TV show). WQXI used to be a big time rock station until FM radio killed AM music stations.

  • Actually, the story I heard was that Hugh Wilson, the developer of the show spent some time in Gainesville, Florida, and that it was based more on WGVL, a popular station at the time in that college town.

  • He spent lots of time in Atlanta but went all over the place. Wikipedia talks about the people Carlson & Fever were imaged after.

God bless their hearts but these people butchered that great song.

  • I've read it...great stuff. And if you have WGN America on your cable or satellite lineup, the show is back...Sunday nights between 7 & 8 eastern...and if you're even luckier and have either old videotapes of the series or the DVDs available through a few places on the web (NOT the DVDs from Fox Home Video), you can see them with the original songs still intact. Disappointing but understandable: most songs had to be replaced with generic music (licensing being the issue), still a great show!

  • In Cincinnati back in the 70s there was a station WKRQ.

  • Just splendid, the best American show on the tele.

    -Cheers

  • Wow.

  • That was really cool. That was my favorite show.

  • That's too funny.

  • Sweet! I live a little over 40 miles north of the Great City of Cincinati in preble County, and i have bought the only dvd of WKRP they had at our eaton Walmart. WKRP Rules!
