@aavindraa No. I'm playing the this scene from the Donnie Darko DVD right now--Head Over Heels is at its normal pitch. I wonder why the hell it's pitched a half-step higher here as uploaded by menaceboy??
@FlingsPooAtTheZoo: Maybe it's from the damned Directors Cut!! WORST DC ever. The end sequence is overlayed by a GRID and FIREWORKS, among dozens of other poor changes, like splicing in the poorly written excerpts from Roberta Sparrow's book.
@aavindraa Well I checked the Director's Cut--the song is pitched properly on it too. Yeah, I'm not a fan of the grid/eyeball/fireworks etc. in the DC. I *can* accept the pages from Roberta Sparrow's book, since Richard Kelly had written them while the (superior) theatrical version was still in production. I *do* like that the Watership Down & Book Exchange scenes were included in the DC. I especially like Ms. Pomeroy's little joke to Donnie "maybe you and Frank can read this one together," lol.
@FlingsPooAtTheZoo: Yeah there were a few things I liked about the DC, but definitely a lot of things I was going "Huh??" about. Someone needs to edit both versions and make a fan's version with the best of both worlds. :P
@aavindraa lol, I agree. I'd take the theatrical cut, add the Poetry Day scene, the Book Exchange scene, the Watership Down scene, the extended version of the Cellar Door (classroom) scene, the extended scene in which Dr. Thurman reveals to Donnie that his "medication" was a placebo all along(!), and...that's about it. Oh, and I *love* the commentary track on the DC with Kevin Smith, haha. He's as stumped as MOST of us as to how Richard Kelly came up will all of this totally mind-blowing stuff.
I have top say, I'm PICKY with my 80's music, But I like this song, and I love this movie. So though provoking, I could see it a hundred times, and still not understand everything is has to offer. Yet it is someone puzzling, but not confounding in a bad way. You want to solve these mysteries, understand the ideas going on in the film.
@taylorwhite123 lol that part of the movie makes me laugh, how they are snorting shit right in the hallway just as the principle walks by but he doesnt notice it...
I've read "The Destructors" and I don't think that the boys in the story were destroying the house just to see what happens, to see what happens when their world around them is being destroyed, because their world was already destroyed by the first Blitz of world war II. Though it is eveident that it was to create something new out of destruction, it was the creation of equal social order. After that house fell, there was nothing beautiful left and the old way of society was gone.
nothing sudden at all. i own it too and this was my fourth time seeing it. it's just that it was shown on bbc last night so people are commenting on it now.
What a great clip. Head over Heels sounds awesome and fits this scene so well but also the actualy film score, you hear the beginning of it towards the end, sounds just awesome!!
Who would you have prefered to play a pedo? they got someone like Patrik Sweasay to play the part coz its very unexpected when you find out. If they got Micheal Jackson to play the part it would kinda eliminate the element of surprise lol
I also love the part wene he gets in trouble. The Princaple says "Would you like to tell us what you said" and the teacher says he told my to shove a book up my anus =)))))
absolutely amazin. i love the way the music starts wen he jumps out, the way it introduces all of the key carachters within minutes and the editing near the end of the song. perfect, richard kelly u genius
Is it just me or does it sound slightly sped up/higher pitched?
