Nobody understands what the purpose of the bearing spacer is. When you put the spacer inside the wheel, and a washer on either side of the wheel once the bearings are in, it makes it so you can tighten the bolt up all the way and your board will still roll just fine. When the bolt is tightened all the way, the bearings spin around the races while the races stay in place, which is what they're supposed to do. If you look at any other sport with wheels that's how the bearings are always set up.
