  • I love you man.

  • Loved your explanation thank you sooo much!! Step by step and you showed how to divide the fractions and all thanks!

  • thank you... your explanation was extremely helpful!

  • This really helped me! Thank you soooo much!!!:)

  • thx

  • Your are so awesome! Thank you!

  • You are realy awsome now i understand everything

    Thank You

  • There should be a schooltube.... anyone agree?

  • @ChinoPR001 do you mean youtube.edu?

  • @ChinoPR001 cause it already exists

  • alright im a freshman and im still working on this math, i feel really dumb =(

  • @drgigglesdoescocaine i didnt take precal til second semester of my freshman year, so do not worry about it

  • @drgigglesdoescocaine Dont worry Im a freshman in college and this shit is not making it through my BRAIN!!!!

  • @drgigglesdoescocaine huh you feel dumb, im a sophmore in Algebra 2 and i dont even know half of my times tables

  • but these changing winds can blow cold and hostile...

  • Hi i watched youe video and had a question about a problem i'm working on. The equation i'm solving is y-(-4)=3/2 (x+2). I keep getting y=3/2x-7/3. I'm pullingmy hairout over this. Please help me.

  • @theawesomeestdude You have to distribute the 3/2 to the (x+2) so you get 3/2x + 3. Then just solve for y by subtracting 4 from both sides.

  • Thank you so much. I must have watched over twenty of your videos. You and tqnohe are the reasons as to why I'm not failing math!!!

  • youtube must make a lot of money from patrick, because i've had to watch so many ads to watch all of his videos.

  • @DieuDesDouze the ads are why youtube is free for you to watch

  • @patrickJMT i understand capitalism. not all playlists have ads on every single video. yours do. don't be a smartass. a gift of knowledge will ruin you, if you act like a fuckboy.

  • I absolutely love this video. Totally makes better sense than what my instructor mumbles for 2 hours. thanks a bunch!!

  • you just have me with my test man. thanks a lot ! ;D

  • ty

  • you are my man

  • i ended up with y=2/3x+4/3

  • what is the answer to this- (the line with a slope 2/3 through (4,4) in point slope form

    help please.

  • Thankyou. This helps with Geometry and my Runescape bots :)

  • What is my two points are 1,1 and 3,7 i did everything you did but when i go to the part where you change it into y=mx=b i got lost because instead of keeping the fraction 6/2 i reduced and i added the 7 to both sides where do i multiply by 5 or do i even?

  • Im in 8th grade and have to do like 10 problems of this every single day for homework thanks a lot man. really helped. :D

  • @IBFresh4Lyfe 10 problems is not very much : )

  • @patrickJMT dude ten every day for 180 days is 1800 a school year. now it sounds like quite alot, right?

  • @CODKiller1000 no, it does not. it sounds like 10 a day which is not a lot.

  • @IBFresh4Lyfe yeah dude that aint nothing i gotta do about 35 question on it then take a test on it

  • Where is 34/5 coming from ? Shouldn't it be 37/5 ?

  • when you used the point slope formula in 2:39-2:53 how did you choose which one is the one you want to subtract is there a rule for that?

  • Omg thank you so much. This video really helped!

  • thanks for the help :)

  • @PatrickJMT can you be my math teacher instead? LOL

  • thanks man

  • WOO. OH YEAH. YOU JUST SAVED MY LIFE. By the I mean you just saved me from flunking my math exam tomorrow. Thanks!? >:D Ima subscribe noooooooow..So glad I found this!?

  • I like how collage professors like to make something as simple as this and turn it into a hurricane of numbers and letters. I'm subscribing :} very helpful!

  • 3x-5y-36=0 is this still correct?

  • Thank you so much! I have my algebra final tomorrow and I really needed to brush up on point-slope form. This helped me a lot:)

  • this is exactly how my algebra teacher does it!

  • god bless your mind and your articulation!!!

  • huh?

  • Thank you, I understand this, thank you soo much... :)

  • you can use two point form in this given..

  • @nodesperada94 i am not sure what you are trying to say

  • @patrickJMT what I mean is, aside from point slope form, you can also use another method called two-point form.. it's easier.. but it's almost the same.. ;]] hehe.. don't mind it..

  • @nodesperada94 oh ok, i was a bit confused : )

  • @patrickJMT Who said the internet isn't educational? But seriously I have the CST for Algebra II in two days and my teacher gave me a 49 page review packet for Algebra I and II and i completely forgot about this and you've helped alot, thank you :)

  • Such a great video. It's been a year since i have taken algebra and i'm volunteering to tutor high schoolers. I'm teaching point slope and this video made more sense than the notes i took last year.

  • your handwriting is sooo neat haha

  • Thank you. Better said than my wanna be professor

  • Ok I don't get it and I'll try my best to explain why

if m=y2-y1 over x2-x1 (obviously numbers 2 and 1 are lower) then why when finding m does it look like m=8-5 over 2-(-3)? that's saying y2-x2 over y1-x1?? help!!

  • @sweetz863 okie nvm, i was misinformed on points, i get it now.

  • you taught me more than my teacher did lol

  • how did you go from 40/5 to 34/5?

  • never mind got it lol

  • @deepdiver1101 agreed. I took and distributed the slope of 3/5 to x and 2 in the parenthesis, and ended up with it like this:

    y-8=3/5x (x-2)

    then distributed...and got

    y-8 = 3/5x - 1 1/5 +8 +8

    _______________

    Y= 3/5x + 6 4/5

So what have I done wrong?

  • @deepdiver1101 oh, -6 + 40= 34

  • Thankyou for explaining!!! Imm in 7th grade, and I was absent when the teacherr was explaining it...soo thankyouu!! =D

  • @amandalalaland98 i know- if you miss one day, you miss everything!!

  • thanks..you're a great teacher....better than my professor in college...

  • as many times as i watch this and learn this in class i just cant get it in my head it so long to remember fml

  • sorry but is the M not stand for Midpoint? i live in Ireland so names of formula's are different sometimes than in the States.Personally i think they should be the same worldwide. Thanks very much for the video !

  • great gotta watch this as part of my shitty algebra 2 project.

  • thanks man, i get it now and it's actually easy :) keep it up

  • WAIT! what do you mean about the " the only reason why i pick this cause they are both positive so that i dont have to worry about signs" line? :I

  • you are AMAZING!!!!!! i understand it now!!!!!!

  • you just saved my life

  • thanks man helping me alot your the best

  • What do I do if y1 is 1? Just leave it as it is?

  • Maths exam in a day. Your videos are helping me. A LOT :D

  • thankz!!!

  • thanks alot man i dont know were i would be witjout your videos

  • Thanks alot, is it possible to show how to convert the point slope equation to the standard Ax + By = C ?

this is really helping either ways

  • what if its a line with no dots

  • @fullofgold55 Lines are made up of many points. You can pick any points on that line that you want. Just because a dot isn't there, does not mean that points are not.

  • im watching this an hour before my exam =>

    my plamnning system is superior

  • You are my freaking hero.

  • Great. However, since your are a lefty, stay on the right side, especially if you are in a classroom environment.

  • youtube>math class

  • best resource on the net! I am a teacher and post your stuff on my blackboard account all the time for my kids to review! I am from Austin but live in Singapore. Keep up the awesome work!

  • Left handed ftw :0

  • COME TEACH AHHT MY SCHOOL NOWW

  • Thumbs up if your Algebra teacher or Geometry just tells you to read the book and not explain it to you or give an example.

  • Thank You. It totally makes sense.

  • @sakura488 okie dokie. then someone will tell me how f-in slow i am and complain about that.

  • @sakura488 just pause it, if that dosn't work then watch it over again.

  • thank you so much! You're a great teacher

  • U R A GENIUS!

  • thanks! my teacher is terrible. you make this so easy!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP! :DDDDD

  • Why do I love this guy so much?

  • thanks this is really helpful :) it makes reviewing for precalc easier

you make it so much easier than my teacher

  • thanks this is really helpful :) it makes reviewing for precalc easier

  • Im not gay but, I love you

  • thx a lot! :)

  • thanks man

your so cool for doing these videos.

    They really help alot.

  • This helped me a lot thanks :D

  • You are my hero, PatrickJMT. I LOVE YOU!

  • Thank you! You have help me a lot!

  • THANKS I GET IT NOW :) YOUR DOING VERY GREAT YOU KNOW

  • @marietoe15toe thanks, but i always like to hear it : )

  • that makes so much more sense than in class!!! thank you so much!

  • @nickypolkadotz my pleasure!

  • @patrickJMT You sir, are saving my AS maths grades :)

  • DUDE THX ALOT!!! YOU MAKE MORE SENSE THEN MY TEACHER

  • awesome video. I have a quiz over this tomorrow and I was absent from class when the teacher was going over this. This was super helpful :)

  • what would be perpendicular to y=4x-2 and passes through (-8,2)

  • you're a life saverrrrrrrrrrrrrr...thanks alot dude

  • You sir, are a life saver

  • thanks alot dude

    god bless u

  • dude, i saw this before a test, helped so much :D

  • I dont get it am i the only one

  • @BlueEagle62O probably not. but, you should not expect to get everything the 'first time' - math is too complicated for that.

  • @patrickJMT dont worry I got it know .I just had to watch the rest of the video

  • you really helped thanks

  • patrickJMT is the best teacher on youtube.

Clear, concise and to the point.

I learn way more here than in class.

I got an A on my last exam because of you Patrick!

I should ace the final tomorrow too!!!

  • absolute ledgend.

    cant thank you enough!

  • wow! ths was great! i missed some lectures and i was totally lost!!!! never heard of ths "ponit slope" though interesting!.lol

  • thank you very much.

i was doing my accounting problems and i couldn't continue because of this formula. thank you for explaining very well specialy when you said that we can use either points -3.5 or 2.8 to get the slope. some books that cost $100.00 written by famous mathematicians don't help. I hope you don't have a PHD, those are the worst teachers.

They shouldn't be teachers or write a book.

They can not be compared to your explanations.

  • @ytnx you need the point- slope form for accounting??

  • im at the store

  • What if you have four points? how do you find the equation of line ?

  • thanks man.. very helpful.. but, can u put all geometry topics on the same set of links? im having trouble browsing topics.. they're all mixed up..

  • YOU ROOOOOCCCCCKKKKKK!!!!! ...putting yaymath out of business hahaha

  • no edu-tainment here

  • @eatshrots

LOL that's funny. It would break my heart if Patrick ever put on a Star Trek suit to explain exponents!

  • this really really helped me!! thank you so so much!!

  • @spencers63

i dono... you do have a point.

WE DO spend BILLIONS on education

and have the worst math scores

  • wow you are a good math teacher! my math teacher tried to teach me this for a week and i still didnt get it! and with you i understand after minutes. thank you! :)

  • Many thank you!! i understand this :)

  • He overly complicated the distribution. Instead of doing 3/5x - 6/5, it could have been (3x - 2)/5, where he could have multiplied by five and distributed on the other side. I just hate fractions. :P

  • this helped, the fractions was okay unless you weren't paying sincere attention, this indeed helped me,thank you for your time!

  • youtube can explain in 4 or 5 minutes wut my teacher can in 2 weeks. if i could bring a laptop to ninth grade i would watch all this stuff and in class and be done with homework in no time.

  • @hasnachos I bring a laptop to school 8D

  • get rid of the fractions -_-

  • oh my god! thank you so much!! i have my final in algebra tomorrow and my algebra teacher sucks thanks so much for this (oh yeah and merry christmas lol)

  • 6(5)=30 not 40 but great video. A lot of help

  • he did 8*5......

  • he was multiplying 8 by 5 to get a common denominator...he was correct :)

  • @KiJoHe

well, thats because it was 8(5). haha

  • Good Video Thanks so much keep on making them :)

  • thanks! this wIll help me and my friends on our homework tonight!

  • i don't get it

  • i finally understand! yay. its not that hard anymore. but i have a feeling i still bpmbed the math test like i do on all of them cuz my teacher grades us lower on so bullshit stuff than if we actually get it wrong!

  • great video! we have to write it out in the general form but when I do I end up with my answer on the opposite side of the = sign from the answer in our book - what am I doing wrong

  • i would do this if it dident have so many steps and i dident have so many of the problems and it was only worth 3 mf points

  • Thanks a lot for your video! You have totally saved me from failing my NCEA Maths co-ordinate geometry end of year paper that i'm doing on monday

  • Me Too Cuz!

  • Lol real? What city you in?

  • Umm Nelson, New Zealand!

  • Wbu?

  • omg this helped me so much i have a test tomorrow! thank you for posting

  • OMG too many steps!

  • LOL u should his other vids this was nothing

  • this is amazing! i wish he was my professor!

  • Holy shit man! you helped me an ass load! thanks :D!!!

  • keep posting up math videos, you are really helpful thanks

  • that helped alot!

  • YES! I LOVE MATH! XXDDD

    *five star*

  • instead of the formula

m= y2 - y1 over x2 - x1, can I just use a gradient? like increase in y over increae in x. Its much simpler to me, do I necessary need to know the fomrula to find m? If you know what I mean.. Thank you so much!!

  • yes, use what you want! it is all the same thing : )

  • yea circle u are such a fucking racist

  • thanks man

  • this guy is my savior...my teacher sux.

  • @XnikiXkikiX LOL

  • how can I solve this:

    Parallel to the line x - 3y =8 containing the point (0,0)

  • the line is parallel so the slope is the same, which is 1/3 if u put it into this form:

    -3y = -x + 8

    3y = x - 8

    y = 1/3 x - 8

then just use the videos equation and plug in (0,0)

  • chinese kid wuold

  • im sry ?

    i dont read gibberish

  • oh sorry, chin ping wo.

  • that neither.

find more creative ways to be racist.

    dumb nuts

  • ignore him
