@GaryGarrett Should I paint the canvas black and let it dry ?..... I'm afraid to do this, I might destroy the entire painting ... pls reply... It is the first time I paint on a canvas. Is it possible to do this with acrylic paints?
@GaryGarrett I am BRAND NEW to painting. i am not a good drawer so i have no skills at all with that kind of stuff. I aM very impressd with Bob Ross. I AM GOING TO TRY A NEW HOBBY!! i am better at photography. I have a eye for capturing wildlife photos. So that is why i like Ross, his paintings are nature scenes I am going to purchase the workshop dvd collection he did. do you have any pointers for a beginer. What types of paints, brushes etc? Thanks
thanks. I really like to watch time lapse painting. I think that's why Bob Ross was so well loved. He did it start to finish in one sitting. I'm trying to paint ALONG with Bob from his early episodes to current. Then I'm video taping and blogging. Check em out if you are so inclined. thanks, Kay
Thank you... the music is Medwin Goodall: "Book of Secrets"... you can buy his CD on the ebay... thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment
It IS simple... just let it flow, stay loose and it all comes together! YES, PLEASE post yours as a response... love to see it. I know it will turn out well! thanks for watching!
Simple: ANY TV artist is good for ALL artist as it raises PUBLIC awareness of art and artists. Bob Ross' techniques look simple, but can be difficult for many thus they often have a greater appreciation for the accomplishments of other artists. Also, who else do you know who can paint an 18x24 painting, with good composition, color and texture... and do it within 24 minutes time after time?
So, if you sell your art to the public, Bob has helped you. That's my view, thanks for watching.
I LOVE it!!! It doesn't seem fair that you got that talent and I got an angry son! LOL Seriously...one very talented guy and your tribute to Bob Ross...super. :D
I too had an angry son. But after a change in my reactions, offering my wisdom as a caring friend instead of DAD, now, he too has changed and our relationship has grown to be very nice. Also, please give this a try! just follow what I (and Bob Ross) did with the papertowel, brushes and fine brushes and you too can do this... it's easy! thanks for watching!
wow. i think if all 2,500 people looking at this video were expecting a painting of elvis on black velvet.....they almost got what they were looking for. gag.
This vid is 53 seconds. Normally 1 second is 25 frames.
5 frames every 30 seconds. 5 frames is 1/5 of a second. So 53*5= 265 intervals of 30 seconds = aprox 130 minutes. Little over 2 hours of filming/painting.
I must have made an error somewhere (beside my spelling).
Amazing result I will try this as soon as I can get my hands on black gesso. Seems in short supply around here.
Hi, you've struck the very problem I noticed! I never got the numbers to match my production time relative to the wall clock. I was told by the saleman that in INTERVAL mode, the camera shot 5 frames every 30 sec. I found the manual on line, which told me that... in fact... it's .5 seconds (1/2 second) every 30 seconds. At NTSC (TV video 30 frames per second),therefore 1 sec video = 1 min realtime. 24 sec actual should equal 24 minutes realtime, but the camera loses 8 min/ per actual hour.
ran out of words on that reply... the actual time lapse portion of this video is 24 seconds, so in using the calculations from my last comment here, and taking into account that the camera timing is off a bit, it looks like it took about 23 minutes to paint... proves that TIME FLIES WHEN YOU ARE HAVING FUN, as my perception at the time as only about 10-15 minutes... LOL anyway thank you for your comment and urging me to solve the delima of the time-lapse/realtime relationship.
I came upon you because of your comments on SmeckDotCom's last picture - love this painting - must watch more of your videos. Would you have a look at my channel?
Do you use liquid clear (black or white) on your paintings? I got a Bob Ross book as a gift and he uses it to make the brush flow esp. for tree branches and fine brush work.
Hi Retta, I paint in acrylics... so my "liquid clear" is either water or an acrylic gel medium. I use water to thin my acrylics to flow for branches and thin lines. I just do not have the physical room for the drying of oil paints. I hope this helps, thanks for watching. GG
Wow, this is probably my favorite. I agree with the other person commenting on your paintings these are great and I enjoy watching them over and over.
Wow - you make it look so easy and fun - - I am going to try this - you inspire me !!!
