  • systema and ju jitsu..best joint martial art EVER

  • 1:33 for epicnes

  • that style of kicking reminds me of the rider kick lol

  • interesting. this style seems very familiar to hapkido, from where is it ?

  • I would be so tempted to step to the side and pull him into a wall behind me. Smackaroo! But I agree w/ ookna down there...and I would see it.

  • What most people dont realize, is that only another martial artist or someone who has been trained how to actually fight isnt going to see this coming. A normal persons first thought is "This guy is gonna tackle me!" So theyll brace themselves for it, and by the time they realize it, the kick is already on its way. I actually did this to a guy once when I was younger, and it worked well. Full on in the chest, and the fight was done before it began. Would I rely on it? Never. Possible? Of course!

  • Very well performed! :)

  • I'd hate to see him dive

  • I dun mean 2 sound rude, but maybe d only opponents u CAN hit r Soo Bahk Do stylists. U try dat sorta trick on a Krav Maga, Muay-Thai or Vale-Tudo stylist, d only place ur flying 2wards is d ground... d HARD way. Pls do teach wat u feel is impt 2 u but dun pass dramatic statements lyk it can take out a horseman on his stallion... ur only raising d spirit of beginners juz 2 smash it on d ground - as do their pretty faces if they do YOUR kick in actual STREET combat.

  • @86HairMetal beginner kicks. this isnt the extreme advanced

  • @nunchuck19 Well then chuck, do you have a URL link to something to back your claim? I want to see the "extreme advanced" version of it.

  • @86HairMetal I agree. Not much margin for error if the kick is not effective. Alot of opportunity to counter if the executor of the kick does not apply it perfectly. But the physical benefits and skill to be able to perform that kick usually indicates they can do much more.

  • @somrmojo I agree to a large extent; practicing such moves does have it's merit in terms of physical benefits. A point to note is not to get too carried away with practicing flashy moves, to the point where one INSTINCTIVELY throws a high-risk move in a snap. Sure, many people say, "Nah, of course I won't do that!" Oh yeah? Once you begin to acquire muscle-memory of the move's mechanics, it can become a habit.. a BAD habit. All it needs is ACTUAL combat - somebody's going to get hurt real bad!

  • U noe wat d problem wif dis kick is? Itz way 2 pre-telegraphed, meaning sum1 can c u a mile b4 u evn take-off. It can work, ONLY if ur opponent adopts a traditional side-stance & is moving back as u take-off for d flying kick. It wun hit if ur opponent duz wat I did:

    1) step 2wards him as he lifts himself up.

    2) side-step in2 his body.

    3) parry/grab his leg from below as dey lift off d ground.

    4) snag an uppercut to d floatin-ribs... or groin.

So, still a "cool-lookn kick"? Nope.

  • nice moves

  • Thanks for the video, I got it almost instantly from this, whereas most other videos were pretty bad :/ Keep it up, :)

  • 1:48 I'm sorry, they would what? Knock soldiers off horses? Really, you believe that? OH~KAY!... God Dammit Nappa.

  • @SatoRindou Yup, they wld jump so high & knock soldiers off horses... and then ask an excellent qn, "How da hell do I... land?!" Flying kicks only work on assailants ONLY when the director says, "Action!"

  • korean karate lol karate is Japanese funny koreans

  • Soo Bahk Do is not really a martial art. It is a from of Korean dance based on Shotokan Karate.

  • That was well executed. Lot's of power.

  • not bad

  • Thats a jumping side kick. not a flying side kick. im a black belt.

  • muay thai all the way

  • i like the combination of taekwando and muay thai

  • we'll for me muay thai is the best base but some tkd kicks come in handy.

  • iv seen muay thai on that human weapon show , the art is really brutal :l not even funny , have you see a flying knee to the chest ? :l

  • yer i saw that plus i've been doing it for a year now plus my friend recently got a black belt in tkd and we occasionly visit each others gyms.

  • It's funny when the dude getting hit deserves it.

  • I'll make a better tutorial than this... this guy can't hop at all.. Just give me a bit

  • if u guys wanna learn to do these kicks then go to a do jung and learn first hand not through youtube

  • do jung? don't you mean dojo?

  • nope in soo bahk do its called the do jung

  • u wanna see idiots, u watch these vids..lmao

  • i see Smokeystyle marrying evryone would minimize the resistance... clever

  • if the world didnt have guns or bombs

the asians would rule it with their marital arts!!

  • @Smokeystyle Thank you very much for that.. honestly that was the best comment I've seen lately =) my girlfriend made fun of me for laughing so hard

  • @Smokeystyle I think you mean *martial* arts, right? :P

  • lol XDDDDD

  • flying side kicks were used in the ancient times to kick men off horses

  • I've read countless stories about Karate, Kung Fu and TKD experts who knocked out opponents on the street with traditional techniques, including flying kicks.

  • Lol, if TKD was inefficeint or ineffective, or not partical. Why do many armies in the world use it?... Like Singapore... Korean and many other countries.

  • Who knows, look at the U.S. military, they train BJJ, I train and have trained in several M.A. like it but for military purposes it is a bit foolish because they are training their body to pull a enemy in when that person may have a knife or small deadly weapon (if guns are for one reason or another not being used). The military should look for something more closely related to what it is they encounter in battle, getting the guy away in order to use their primary or secondary firearm is a +

  • The thing is that I can't pick up my back leg or "trailing leg."

  • "dun this on the street! doesn't work "

You aren't supposed to do flying side kicks in free sparring unless you're fighting dimwits or you're some sort of martial arts prodigy, in which case why are you posting on youtube?

Also, lol @ all the tae kwan do people leaving negative comments. Let's see you do a properly executed flying side kick and maintain perfect form throughout.

  • wtf "Let's see you do a properly executed flying side kick and maintain perfect form throughout." omg if u do traing MA what ever type u do then u will be able to maintain the form =] unless ur a dick and dont give a s*** about what u do :D

  • "I doubt it was made to take people off of a horse. Since the odds of anyone jumping that high are very slim. Unless it was someone the size of an NBA player I doubt it could happen."

What's to say that the ancients, with their intense training, could not jump as high or higher than NBA players of today?

  • no in the old days ppl trained alot harder so they ha dthe skils of leaping higher they didnt train 4 hobby or fitness in the old days it only served 1 purpose war

  • lossssssssssssssserrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • GMPJT wasnt very tall but there are stories of him jumping very high in to breaks without a run up, it is not impossable to kick someone of a horse with this kick - im in no hurry to try it for any purpose tho.

you only cant do something if u believe u cant, with training and practise we can achieve anything!

  • jump kicks weren't used in battle. they were used as conditioning tools and in early demonstrations/games.

  • watch my video nd see how its really done ;) lol

  • very similar to a tae kwon do flying side kick..except a properly executed tae kwon do flyin side kick .would mean havin your hands covering your face also .never drop your guard...minute he drops to the ground after he kicks ..hes hands are down, open for attack. poor

  • this is an easy kick im a blackbelt in Tang Soo Do

  • Well the flyin side kick is one of the more simple and effective flying kicks. It's useful when you're jumping into a fight, or to close the distance. I'd advise using this kick over the jumping spinning back kick, or jumping round house. Since it doesn't give up your back.

I doubt it was made to take people off of a horse. Since the odds of anyone jumping that high are very slim. Unless it was someone the size of an NBA player I doubt it could happen.

  • I didn't read the whole title and thought it said advanced kicks lol so I watched the vid and said hey its a begginer kick read the title and now posted this comment

  • you must suck at jump roundhouse cause you dont give them your back while doing that kick.

  • dun this on the street! doesn't work

  • Maybe you failed at it?? Do this at school, scare the faggy bullies

  • very nice execution

  • Well done kick! I'm pretty partial to the Lunging Side Kick myself, due to the easier use and control.

  • This vid is very good, the guy didnt come across as arrogant(which is rare in people practicing martial arts nowadays)and HE'S VERY VERY CUTE and based on the comments man there are loads of insecure jealous people out there!!! as they'll say on eBay AAAA++++++ will purchase again!!!

  • So Bahk Do and Tang Soo Do are the same art, but were called by different names in South Korea (SBD) and the US (TSD). The founder, Hwang Kee, moved to the US a number of years ago. His son now heads his organization, So Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan (formerly known as Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan)

  • My grandmasters are better than my masters and on and on and well if he was my master then he would be lower than me and the rest of my friends who r white belts

and soo bahkdo is traditional and more focused more shizain and way more disapline than that.u dont bow then go in! u pauldo and THEN go in and its ment to be respectful not rushed and copywright style bad!

    Kam Sa mei dah-SOO BAHK!

  • dude im a whitebelt in soo bahk do and i even know u arent doing it right!! =P! my masters wouldnt watch your for more than a mili second!

  • kremecheez you lie if you friend knows all those arts he will kick your ass easy

  • no, I do martial arts; capoeira and ninjitsu,, but I learned the flying side kick from this video, and when I was playing my friend I saw a chance to try it out and it worked..

  • what a pretentious little prick you are.

  • awesome move!! I used this against my friend who does muay thai and capoeira and it surprised the hell out of him!! I had to hold back the kick cuz if I would have extended it all the way It would have broken his ribs!!

  • and how do you do it to where you go in slow motion like you did in mid air

  • i thought he meant the cell phone at first

  • Nice kicks! I practice Tang Soo Do (ITF), so I guess we have a lot in common. While I really doubt the historical side-note about it being used to kick soldiers armed with swords and polearms off their horses, it is a very powerful kick which, if you can learn to control it, has a lot of potential. One of my favorite breaking techniques is the flying side kick (typically jumping over three crouching people), for that reason.

    Tang Soo!

    Peace,

    JT

  • yeah..really cool and useful, like in the movies, tv...

I wish you could post the Flying Up Kick, it would help me to kill mosquitos at home...

  • soo bahk do is a traditional korean martial art that focuses on both soft and hard, internal and external techniques. the style stayed independent from the unification of the kwons (now taekwondo) during/after ww2.

    SOO BAHK!!

  • SOO BAHK!

    we say that after class.

  • Excellent technique!

  • i thought that was pretty darn impressive myself. height doesn't really come into it with that kind of power, you could just kick the horse in the throat and probably drop it.

  • i don't see this working too well, not unless it was a really small horse, or maybe if it was standing in a hole. there appears to be enough power, but it's just way too low. another thing is that shouting before an attack is like probably going to warn the cavelry dude.. who remember is probably going to be carrying a sharpened stick or something. so it could go like karate guy on a stick scenario. hilarious vid, thanks.

  • all you need is high ground...

  • how funny would it be if he missed and kicked the pole XD

  • soo bahk do is a martial arts form from korea. dating back 2000 years :)

  • Excuse my ignorance... but what is 'soo bakh do'??

  • Lol are you dumb? This move is completely practical on a soldier on horseback coming at you DUH!

    =P *sarcasm*

  • i already know how to do that. u taughtmenothing new

  • then why did u watch the video? can't u read..???

  • cause ifuckin FELT like it alrite douchebag? seeing how this fuckers technique works compared to mine.

  • First of all, so what if you already know how to do it, it wasent put out specificly for your learning. Second, learn some courtesy, your only making a fool of yourself.

  • lol, aint u a bright motherfucker.

  • nice thanx dude

  • this is nice thx guys

  • "...in this free video".

Thank god it's free. I get soooo sick of paying to watch videos on YouTube.

    Yeah, I am being sarcastic.
