The Yanks are the best thing to happen to baseball. There is reasons that when the Yanks visit a city, the home team breaks attendance records. In 04 when the Yanks visited LA the Dodgers recorded 55K fans, highest recorded attendance in 31 years including World Series games. There is reasons that when the Yanks play an away game, the game is scheduled at night. Why? The local TVS wants to broadcast the games at night when people are home, they know they will get the highest ratings that year.
The Yankees has been hearing criticism for there free Agent spending, stuff like the "Yankees spend too much money; they are just buying championships; they are killing small market teams etc. This ignores the fact there have been eight different winners in the last 9 World Series, and the Yankees haven't won since 2000, or that 18 of 30 franchises have made the playoffs at least once the last 3 years. I've always hated how professional athletes and actors/performers were paid. They are EXTREMELY overpaid. What about the teachers of this country or the military servicemen? They are the ones of many keeping this country alive. The former are just entertainers some of who live lavish lifestyles. Actors play pretend for a living and make millions. That's sickening.
I agrre that our armed forces members should be paid more.
Privates should have a base salary of $25,000 a year, while corporals should make $35,000, sargeants should make $50-$60,000, and generals should make $200,000+. They risk their lives daily in combat and non combat duty.
But I also feel that if nothing's stopping them, the Yankees should be able to pay Sabathia $160 million and Teixiera $180 million.
Other teams, like the Pirates, should have more big wigs investing in them.
Seeing all these overpaid athletes makes me sick to my stomach. I'm an average american who depends on my fiscal responsibility to make it by, while some guy who just throws a ball around burns through money like it's nothing. Frankly, the sport might need a salary cap. This coming from an owner who made almost $40 million over the 2006 and 2007 seasons and is set to make more money after the Brewers ranked 9th in attendance this year, up from 17th just two years ago.
Its hard for me to realize a Phillies fan is trying to tell me off. ha, The Yankees missed the playoffs for the first time in 13 years. Philly hasn't won a championship in 28 years lol!

In 04 when the Yanks visited LA the Dodgers recorded 55K fans, highest recorded attendance in 31 years including World Series games. There is reasons that when the Yanks play an away game, the game is scheduled at night. Why? The local TVS wants to broadcast the games at night when people are home, they know they will get the highest ratings that year.

I've always hated how professional athletes and actors/performers were paid. They are EXTREMELY overpaid. What about the teachers of this country or the military servicemen? They are the ones of many keeping this country alive. The former are just entertainers some of who live lavish lifestyles. Actors play pretend for a living and make millions. That's sickening.

I agrre that our armed forces members should be paid more.
Privates should have a base salary of $25,000 a year, while corporals should make $35,000, sargeants should make $50-$60,000, and generals should make $200,000+. They risk their lives daily in combat and non combat duty.
But I also feel that if nothing's stopping them, the Yankees should be able to pay Sabathia $160 million and Teixiera $180 million.
Other teams, like the Pirates, should have more big wigs investing in them.

Seeing all these overpaid athletes makes me sick to my stomach. I'm an average american who depends on my fiscal responsibility to make it by, while some guy who just throws a ball around burns through money like it's nothing. I don't attend sports games, or watch it on TV. As much as they get paid, I would think losing a game would be utterly unacceptable.

BTW, screw the Yankees. You wait for every player to develop, then pick them off b/c you can offer more money than a small-market team. MLBs salary cap policy is absurd and completely unfair. You get 207 million, five times more than many other teams. How are they supposed to compete?

This makes total sense. Baseball is a fucking game. That $900M should have been in the form of bonds so that every NY state taxpayer owns a piece of Stienbrenner's ass. It should that way for every fucking municipality that pays for sports arenas. If the fucking owner can't afford it he should sell the team rather than hold a city hostage. WTF is wrong with Yankee stadium?
