I saw an article in the paper about this after it's screening. The mom wished she had NEVER done it because of the way it portrayed her family negatively.

She was also upset and angry with her older kids for saying harsh things about her darling Adam. I bet that poor older boy got a kicking for the vacation comment. That says everything about that mother. She doesn't care that it affects her older kids enough for them to want rid of Adam. Instead she's mad at them for daring to say it.
