Harley, I love your videos, especially these ones demolishing the paleo trolls who camp out on your page, but I'm reaching a point where I can no longer deal with their stupidity and ignorance. There was a time when people would argue for behaviours which were obviously dangerous(cigarette smoking, alcohol abuse) but never did I imagine I'd live to see a segment of the human population who would actually argue for MORE saturated fat and cholesterol in ones diet. @SpiritusAnimalus I lloked up Usain Bolt, (I'm also curious about paleo claims) Usain eats 30% carbs which isn't small potatoes(he's a big yam eater :)). That 30% can really add up if he eats alot of total calories.

@durianriders I am honored by your reply. Tyson Gay, the 100m U.S. record holder, has a diet similar to Bolt's - high in protein - and regularly consumes ice cream, eggs and bacon.
At 50, I don't aspire to train and eat like Bolt or Gay. I've followed a healthy diet and exercise program for years and it shows. I run, bike, do interval training (tabatas beat my ass) and resistance training and it shows. BP: 100/58. Total cholesterol: 132. Weight: 76kg. Height: 1.85m.
Actually, 2 professional footbal teams in Norway has a low-carb lifestyle in training periods. BUT, they allways load up on carb before a match. That way they get the best of both worlds, great at utilizing fat while still having lots of energy from carbs.

@jgfergus - Sorry my bad I should have said I just turned Raw, I been a veggie for 3 years converted my whole family and 6 freinds, I then went vegan for 2 months and now im trying the raw thing... but how would I eat lentils and chickpeas without cooking them? Or can I be healthy by just eating raw veggies and fruit? (Raw vegans are my role models)
You can sprout lentils and they taste not bad. But sprouted chick peas are putrid IMHO. I eat mainly fruit (mono meals) +80%. I add in some raw nuts, and greens/herbs. I eat a little cooked whole grains on occasion. I also make my own Essene bread from sprouted wheat & kamut berries ground into a dough thru my Greenstar. I add some fresh herbs or dried fruit & dehydrate for a day or so. Been doing this for 25 years (55 now) with a few stumbles along the way. Cheers!
@harjpannu Ah. Yeah just eat all the fresh fruit and vegetables you want :). Beans aren't good raw in my experience. Not even sprouted or with spices. Grains aren't much better. Have a few nuts and seeds.
@Lixuzstatic - I'm going to message you on youtube giving you my facebook add you can then message me over there (if you don't mind), It would mean the world to me to have somone help me a little I wont bug you too much, just would need occasional advice and tips on what to eat. I have a few questions like what my BMI should be etc, my family turned veggie after I showed them a presentation they think the raw vegan thing is weird but are being supportive theres my life story... lol
DurianRider!! Last night in my dream Daniel Vitalis was driving me around in a SUV and he pulled into a Hungry Jacks fast-food restaurant and went inside and asked the server to cook his own meat on the fryer LOL! So I was just watching him cook these two slabs of black meat while his hair got heaps oily and sweaty with this hungry evil laugh on his face,, SO FUKIN FUNNY WHEN I WOKE UP LOL! After watching all of the videos you and Daniel made over the diet shift must have manifested that haha.
Harley, i am a high carb low fat athlete, but not a vegan, would it still be healthier if i became a vegan? Also if i do become a vegan, how do i make sure i dont get any deficiencies ? P.s. love your videos, I just dont understand these low carb people!
@HybridD91 Do you know any athletes that dont take supps? I only know 3 and they are all raw vegans lol!
Go on bodybuilding forums and they will say 'you wont get enough xyz if you go vegan! so you gotta eat lots of meat for breakfast AND take xyz on top of that!...'
I am wondering if a fruitarian diet can protect you against sunburn? Sunburning is a big issue for me as I have very light skin and spend most of my time outdoors in the summer in the desert (AZ), but I don't believe in slathering chemicals all over my body. I do know what you eat affects the condition of your skin but I'm just wondering if there are any sunburn tips you know of.
@questions117 i can tell you that eating fruits rich in antioxidants are your best best against sunburn. go watch mike adams video talk about tanning and sunshine
I tried low carb high fat once and one week or so into it I noticed much more fat on my stomach... and I was training alot then! I also felt depressed and had low energy. Some people would say that's because I wasn't ''keto-adapted'' or whatever... but when I became mostly vegan 8 years ago I instantly felt better and pretty soon my performance increased ALOT. No need to ''adapt'' when eating high carb, our body is already meant for it!
@XNinjaSebX Nobody EVER gets keto adapted. Its just a sound bite they use to promote the bacon and egg primal paleo aka atkins diet.
If people could get keto adapted and do better at sport then everyone would be drinking meat smoothies instead of fruit smoothies and sports drink. They would be drinking liquid lard.
keto adapted is another way of saying 'Im gonna use a sexy term so you feel good about eating the shit you like to eat.'
People think that when an athlete eats fat and meat, they don't still eat lots of carbs. People think that carbs= complex carbs and fruits are just a source of sugar. They don't realize that you can't last on a protein diet. Those are the ones who binge on carbs all of the time. Great info as usual Harley. People need to listen to you more!
@smurfieboo They don't get away with it with their health though, as more than a little fat and protein is harmful to health. See Dr Doug Graham's foodnsport
The greatest all-round athletes, decathlon champs, always weigh under 200 lbs at over 6'. These guys have athleticism, endurance, speed, & STRENGTH, but put one of them in a properly fitting suit, & they're the "Skinny Guy" at any US party. The world's gone crazy. The idea of what a strong, muscular body is has been warped by steroid-gulping bodybuilders & fat American football players. Men with 40 lbs of fat hanging on their belly are convinced they're just 'big guys". Ugh.
@lazur1 Couldn't agree more! You see loads of these "bodybuilders" and yeah they are big, but they sure don't look good. It's like someone took all their muscles away and replaced them with fat. Notice none of them are world class athletes either lol!
@astronautagogo I came to the vegan diet to heal GI issues that developed from a meat/fat/high protein diet... Vegan diets are known to be healing. Can u back up your statement?
What the pop culture, reduce heart disease/cancer/be compassionate vegan narrative doesn't see is, the vast amounts of people who've done it for years & years & crashed/burned. Sure if you've eaten like shit your whole life & have eaten too many animal products, you'll def benefit from a non junk food vegan diet. It will reverse adverse conditions....and in the long run, create NEW ones.
Most folks don't enough enough fresh fruit & veg...so throw the baby out with the bathwater? I'm not sold
hey man your always saying to eat lots of fruit and is seems the the reason you give for this is simply that carbs and sugars are good, But Ive consumed boatloads of carbs for years from sodas and I feel like shit. So do you think the difference is there are vitamins in fruit or fruit has some sort of electric energy found live food or something?
Actually, chinese cuisine is very high in fat & meat (I went to Beijing in 2009). The chinese have started getting fat. However, the skinny chinese don't eat too much. Also, they are much more active than the average american. My friend's chinese cousin is super skinny (model), but she eats next to nothing
Look at the Japanese. They're the skinniest culture on the planet (by statistics) and their cuisine is almost fat free. Not to mention they walk everywhere and eat high carb low protein.
@ShadowlessBeing When I was living in Shenzhen I noticed this too. The poorer people (farmers, workers etc...) ate low fat as they could not afford a lot of meat but the richer families I visited ate very high fat diets. Some of the girls I dated ( a man has his needs :p) were rather slim but this was because, as you said, they ate very little. It was also a skinny fat as they did no exercise and what little they did eat was still high in fat.
Following one's heart is good advice, but rather subjective.
I've found it's easy to find truth if I calibrate my truth-detector/BS-detector. How I do that is to be 100% honest with myself ALL THE TIME! After a few months of ruthless (but not judgmental) honesty, I've become credible to myself. And with that credibility, I can then discern the credibility of others.
If you aren't 100% honest with yourself 100% of the time, you will have no way to know who's telling the truth!
Finnish ultra cyclist Markku Saarinen eats a low carb diet. He gets most of his calories from coconut oil and nuts. He trains about 30 hours per week for the 519 mile HooDoo Race in Utah. It's 48 hour race with elevation up to 3500 meters. It's maybe the toughest cycling race out there.
Too right Harley, you put the RB in RawBogan. Keep it coming and don't let up on the Protein wankers. Yeh, and a bike training video would be awesommmme!!!!!
Although it's always hilarious ripping the shit out of the paleo movement, I think you've pretty much successfully nailed that theme. How about some inspirational training shit or another controversial theme?
LOS ANGELES: Tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams have turned to a vegan diet in order to help heal disease, reports this past week indicated. Venus, the elder sister, was diagnosed last summer with Sjogren’s syndrome, which leads to muscle inflammation and fatigue that many thought would end her career.
U mention rice and fruit in your facebook post for this video...i thought grains were not promoted on this diet and by dr graham ("Grain Damage"), as well as steamed food??
Is it ok to eat steamed rice, squash, sweet potato, and veggies? Are peas ok? Why/why not?
@XedgeXgirlX Whole, Raw, Organic Fruits and Vegetables are always your BEST option. But if you can't get enough calories from these sources then steamed rice, potatoes etc... are the second best for high energy. High Carb, Low Fat is always going to be the best choice for weight loss and high energy, just remember to keep it Vegan so you're doing the best for yourself, the animals and the planet =) <3
@UniversalTruths Thanks! Not to sound ignorant (yes, I've read 811 and other sources) but is it ok to eat beans/legumes and some lightly steamed veggies? I'm not doing well with the high sugar from fruits...it really causes a lot of GI upset and cramps due to the dysbiosis I have. Would lowering the sugar (while still keeping the carbs high) help? IDK why Im suffering such bad cramps and other gi discomforts... it's discouraging! :-(
@XedgeXgirlX Aha, no one knows Everything =) Asking questions is how we learn and improve so never think you are being ignorant when asking even the simplest of questions. Personally I eat rice, potato's, vegetables and beans/legumes. Like I said before this is, in my opinion, better than a diet high in fat and animal products but doesn't seem to be as 'good' as 100% raw fruits and vegetables. I am not an expert but perhaps you have cramps and discomfort because of poor food combining?
@UniversalTruths I wish I could email u... I'd like to continue this discussion off the video page to not hijack the video's message! Anyways, I follow perfect food combining, if I even do combine foods (spinach and dates, or bananas and dates, greens and OJ or other fruits are my most complicated food combos). I'd love to find out more about your diet and how u eat on a meal-to-meal, daily basis. Are u considering 811? Do u eat fruits too?
@XedgeXgirlX sweet potato is an amazing food. Much better than white potatoes or rice. May I suggest steaming or baking it whole until soft. I have it warm with sprouts and a tspn of olive oil as I've read Vitamin A is better absorbed into the body when eaten with a bit of fat. Try buy the ones that are dark orange or pink on the outside - they are much sweeter too. Enjoy!
@smurfieboo There is so much conflicting info out there, cuz some sources say sweet potatoes contain "toxic properties" and thus are to be avoided, while other sources say they are extremely healthy. Ugh. Dr Graham of 811 doesnt promote them, but Dr Klein and other Natural Hygienists do. Are u a LFRV (High fruits)? What is your daily diet like? Do u avoid grains and beans? How much raw and cooked foods do u do?
@XedgeXgirlX Like Harley said, don't go for conflicting info go for results. For me, sweet potatoes are great as they digest well but slowly, taste like pumpkin pie when soft and don't feel heavy on the stomach like potatoes or rice. As for toxic properties, only buy organic or avoid eating the skin of non-organic ones. Sadly I am not high fruits at the moment as I live in London and it's really hard to get top quality fruit here so I eat a lot of vegetables. Grains are poison!
@smurfieboo Hard to know what is the thing that will bring u results, tho! What kind of meal do u make with the sweet potato? Can u post a typical day's diet for u? I'm not doing so hot on the high sweet fruits, so seeing a diet that is higher in veggies would help me out a lot, since there aren't many resources out there on that (without being really high fat! Yuck) Thanks SO much!!! U rock!
It drives me crazy when you mention Mat Danzig. Forget about him, he lost almost every fight he had in the UFC... I don't even think he's in the UFC anymore but anyway... If you want to drop names of vegans in the UFC use Nick Diaz, Nate Diaz, and Jake Shields. These fighters are truly high end fighters and do triathlons as well.
hi harley, absolutely love you vids and i am very grateful there are guys like you out there sharing the hcrv message its was because of you i went from sad to hcrv :) you have helped me tremendously! i still like a bit of weed every now and then, the more i try to find evidence to prove it is bad i seem to find more and more positive stuff about it, can you tell me the reasons you are against weed or do a vid or something, thanks
You forgot the concentrated vegetable extracts to replace nutrients you would otherwise get from vegetables, oh, and the antioxidant sups to replace the antioxidants you would otherwise get from fruit!
i cant confirm myself but i was told one of the very best fighters in the world nick diaz is vegan raw still smokes bongs and dominates and does triathlons in his spare time and swims back from alcatraz just for fun
Harley do u think some people need fat soluble vitamins from animal products more than others? it seems Cintron Brandon is now saying this, and i lately found another guy Zak, "secretsoflongevity" on youtube saying the same. why do some people say they felt alot better trying raw animal products? why does Cintron Brandon say he feels better now switching from veganism? many people are confused on this. would love to hear your direct response to this question. thanks!
@0wenfox Lots of people struggle with going against the status quo. My mate that gave up herion says he feels better when he is on it cos he can hang with more of his mates.
Lots of people struggle with eating enough calories.
Lots of people are just plain flakey too.
If there was a nutrient that ONLY vegans were lacking in then people that went vegan would be dying in a year.
@durianriders when ppl give you the fat soluble primal bs, this is what you tell them. Vit a, d, e, and k are fat soluble, yes. Check the nutrition values for these "fat soluble vitamins" in low fat fruits and veg. Tons. Fat soluble doesn't mean these vits are only found in fatty foods. it just means they can be STORED IN FATTY TISSUE, unlike water soluble vitamins that don't mix with fats and excrete from the body more readily. done.
@durianriders thanks Harley. have a lovely day brother. and thanks for having so much fun. it helps me to know that! lol, the world is too serious. lets try instill peaceful kind feelings in people, and in that way, we contribute less aggression in the world thru not making others angry. in this way, we can change others better, because theyll listen to us when we're not angry & open to understanding them & their life & feelings etc.. thanks bro! keep up the compassionate work! :)
@0wen You have to consider all the pple who are finding veganism because of Harleys personality gaining high ratings. Many people are actually listening. They're on the threads saying theyve gone vegan because of him and feel so grateful they've woken up.People who are quietly spoken with nothing to sell don't get the ratings.Harley isnt responsible for creating aggression in the world all on his own (it ther already) and is creating a massive lot of good for people, animals and our environment xx
@0wenfox Also if you look at Freelea's comments, she mentions creating a character to get the youtube hits. She's getting thousands and evidently waking people up.
@0wenfox vit a, d, e, and k are fat soluble. Look up common fruits and vegs and see for yourself how loaded these foods are with these vitamins. fat soluble doesn't mean these vits are only found in fatty foods. it just means they can be STORED IN FATTY TISSUE, unlike water soluble vitamins that don't mix with fats and excrete from the body more readily. cintron is...well he said the other day in a vid that polysaturated fats are bad. guess what omega 3 and 6 are. one example.
@0wenfox Np. my mistake: Vit d isn't in fruit and vegs but is fat soluble. Named a vitamin, but it doesn't fit the definition of a vitamin anymore because we now know it's made in the body. But at the time it was classified, it was thought that the compound was acquired only via diet, similar to essential amino acids. The body makes "Vit" D via sun exposure/kidney, etc. And I meant to say polyunsaturated, not polysaturated (no such thing). good to know for next time ur on jeopardy (:
Dr Morse says [in case you missed that vid] that Cintron's boost is because of the neurotransmitters in the meat. Zak is talking smack... another young man "getting lost in intellectualism" as Morse would say.
My Ayurvedic type [vata] is supposed to eat grounding n cooked but then they say dairy is fine so WTF do they know?! Fruits for the win. Our only major problem is getting the good fruit. I just bought 13kg of satsumas for £4/$6 but the quality is poor.
Durianrider Harley, any chance u cud make a video about Weston Price and the ideas that secluded groups of native people had such apparantly healthy bodies by eating raw and fermented animal products please? what do u think of Kombucha or fermented raw goats milk? i heard the production of goats milk leads to new goats being born, many of which will be unwanted males and then put to slaughter or meat industry... thanks, have a nice day everyone, peace & understanding - Owen :)
@0wenfox Good one, Owen, for raising awareness here of male goats being slaughtered in goat milk farming. I agree with Harley in his reply above also, that people don't eat enough calories and become influenced by others etc etc. I find it so heartbreaking when they turn away from this good cause. It's wonderful that there are so many examples of people out there who feel fantastic eating this way though.
@0wenfox ONE CAN be in a relativ good health with fermeted raw goat milk or some raw eggs etc BUT is NOT NECCESSARY....although it can be use for a while as replacements for other worse foods - for us & enviroment, animals...until ONE learnes more&his body makes the transition, detoxifies ...makes new habbits; Dr. Robert Morse Healed people from Mongolia, Alaska still with fruits and HERBS.:) you also can rebuild...on high raw even vegan, but not only on grapes... as in fast TIME.:)
@0wenfox PS: Even Norman Walker said fermented raw goat 'cream'...can have benefits for the body at some point, but One should do a Cleanse after.:) IF you don`t have alternatives u use what you got, with great wisdom like the inuits, native indians....but not because of Convinience.:)
Norman Walker also suggested raw goat milk for new bornes...instead of formulas, but not All the time or all your life Everyday.:) NOW... Dr. Robert MOrse said he is making a baby formula from plants.:)
I never understood how mainstream bodybuilders who eat meat talk about carb loading, yet are against carbs the rest of the time. Eating acidic meats and such.
I agree with the comment about ur hair. I love it. U look handsome. U got a pretty good looking gal too, so yall are a good pair. mmm...a pear sounds good right now.
@astronautagogo i dont recall saying anything about isolation or making enemies. your words! why would a vegan workout with a crew who defines itself by being staunchly anti-vegan? Furthermore, why would anyone pay for cross fit when you can get together with your friends and do the same thing free at any local playground. What!? no kettle bells, you mean I have to be creative!?
@videobenji yes yes! conflict! conflict! Paleo's vs Fruitarians! Zealots on both sides, they can all take each other out on an island so the rest of us can get along.
@astronautagogo haha the irony in that comment is that if fruitarians and paleos ended up stranded on an island, they'd have no choice but to eat coconuts. Then sooner or later they'd all be fit and healthy, makin babies left and right, and it would be the greatest island ever full of hot fruitarians, and you wouldn't be there because you'd be on the mainland avoiding conflict! so there! haha
Good points. Meat eaters should consider limiting their meats and not be afraid of healthy carbs. That's where the photochemicals and antioxidants are among other healthful things.
Vegans being an extreme minority sure do well in competition.

I am wondering if a fruitarian diet can protect you against sunburn? Sunburning is a big issue for me as I have very light skin and spend most of my time outdoors in the summer in the desert (AZ), but I don't believe in slathering chemicals all over my body. I do know what you eat affects the condition of your skin but I'm just wondering if there are any sunburn tips you know of.

questions117 1 month ago
I tried low carb high fat once and one week or so into it I noticed much more fat on my stomach... and I was training alot then! I also felt depressed and had low energy. Some people would say that's because I wasn't ''keto-adapted'' or whatever... but when I became mostly vegan 8 years ago I instantly felt better and pretty soon my performance increased ALOT. No need to ''adapt'' when eating high carb, our body is already meant for it!
XNinjaSebX 1 month ago

ShadowlessBeing 1 month ago

@XedgeXgirlX Whole, Raw, Organic Fruits and Vegetables are always your BEST option. UniversalTruths 1 month ago
XedgeXgirlX 1 month ago
@XedgeXgirlX Aha, no one knows Everything =) Asking questions is how we learn and improve so never think you are being ignorant when asking even the simplest of questions. Personally I eat rice, potato's, vegetables and beans/legumes. Like I said before this is, in my opinion, better than a diet high in fat and animal products but doesn't seem to be as 'good' as 100% raw fruits and vegetables. I am not an expert but perhaps you have cramps and discomfort because of poor food combining?
UniversalTruths 1 month ago
@UniversalTruths I wish I could email u... I'd like to continue this discussion off the video page to not hijack the video's message! Anyways, I follow perfect food combining, if I even do combine foods (spinach and dates, or bananas and dates, greens and OJ or other fruits are my most complicated food combos). I'd love to find out more about your diet and how u eat on a meal-to-meal, daily basis. Are u considering 811? Do u eat fruits too?
XedgeXgirlX 1 month ago
@XedgeXgirlX sweet potato is an amazing food. Much better than white potatoes or rice. May I suggest steaming or baking it whole until soft. I have it warm with sprouts and a tspn of olive oil as I've read Vitamin A is better absorbed into the body when eaten with a bit of fat. Try buy the ones that are dark orange or pink on the outside - they are much sweeter too. Enjoy!
smurfieboo 1 month ago
@smurfieboo There is so much conflicting info out there, cuz some sources say sweet potatoes contain "toxic properties" and thus are to be avoided, while other sources say they are extremely healthy. Ugh. Dr Graham of 811 doesnt promote them, but Dr Klein and other Natural Hygienists do. Are u a LFRV (High fruits)? What is your daily diet like? Do u avoid grains and beans? How much raw and cooked foods do u do?
XedgeXgirlX 1 month ago
@XedgeXgirlX Like Harley said, don't go for conflicting info go for results. For me, sweet potatoes are great as they digest well but slowly, taste like pumpkin pie when soft and don't feel heavy on the stomach like potatoes or rice. As for toxic properties, only buy organic or avoid eating the skin of non-organic ones. Sadly I am not high fruits at the moment as I live in London and it's really hard to get top quality fruit here so I eat a lot of vegetables. Grains are poison!
smurfieboo 1 month ago
@smurfieboo Hard to know what is the thing that will bring u results, tho! What kind of meal do u make with the sweet potato? Can u post a typical day's diet for u? I'm not doing so hot on the high sweet fruits, so seeing a diet that is higher in veggies would help me out a lot, since there aren't many resources out there on that (without being really high fat! Yuck) Thanks SO much!!! U rock!

@0wenfox Lots of people struggle with going against the status quo. My mate that gave up herion says he feels better when he is on it cos he can hang with more of his mates.
Lots of people struggle with eating enough calories.
Lots of people are just plain flakey too.

durianriders 1 month ago 18
@durianriders when ppl give you the fat soluble primal bs, this is what you tell them. Vit a, d, e, and k are fat soluble, yes. Check the nutrition values for these "fat soluble vitamins" in low fat fruits and veg. Tons. Fat soluble doesn't mean these vits are only found in fatty foods. it just means they can be STORED IN FATTY TISSUE, unlike water soluble vitamins that don't mix with fats and excrete from the body more readily. done.
