@Cars2fan The video was taken looking SouthWest at the Chipotle Restaurant, 22720 Three Notch Road Lexington Park, MD 20653, which is at the corner of Route 237 (Maple Road) and Route 235 (Three Notch Road).
@ilovegmaildou There were tornado warnings in the area that evening. When driving south after this video, I could see the tornadic motion in the clouds above me through the sunroof of the car. There were reports of touchdowns to the west later. It was an interesting evening.
i was in oc when this happend with family. we just got ice cream, so we went back to are apperment, i got binaculars, went out on the balcony, looked in them...and almost crapped my pants.
@SpyroTheDragon71 Yes. There were several touching down to the west. I did not hear of any damage, but am not familiar with all the neighborhoods in the area.

Why is it that the sirens never go off when there's actually a tornado? I remember being in Myrtle Beach for a tornado in 2000 we didn't hear any sirens or anything it just really dark outside and we saw people running off the beach next thing we know the tornado is right outside our building the sirens didn't go off until thirty minutes later. idk if it was because we lost power because the hotel lights never went out.
Most likely this siren is at the Bay District Fire Department... I have a feeling it is one of the many sirens for the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant but I can't confirm that.
There is absolutely no difference in sound whatsoever between a 2T22 and a 3T22 in alert or attack. Unless one of the dampers are stuck shut, or it's sounding in hi-lo, there is no way to tell which one it is without seeing it.
I noticed tornadic activity in the clouds as I drove south on the 235, but I did not see anything on the ground. When I got back to the hotel room, the news made it clear that there were 7 areas along the road where I was at where a tornado could have touched down. I basically learned that I should not have been driving around.
@StarshipSanders I live in northern Virginia and when we had a tornado at the end of the school day we didn't have any sirens going off, I don't think VA has any.
That civil defense Federal alarm is part of Bay District Volunteer Fire, Station 9. It's actually just beside that transmission tower you have the camera pointed at.
i Love the Dual Toned Sirens too.....they sound Good and Scary.....it seems like now Sentry is the only Siren Company that Still makes Dual Toned Mechanical Sirens....
Bring Back the Thunderbolts...The Allertors,Hurricanes,3T22's and all the other Nice Sounding Oldies...As Far As Warning Goes none of the Electronic Sirens Really Cut it..
I remember that day I was in the center of all the hype when i walked out onto my front porch and saw a massive black wall of clouds over the tree line, just across MD Route 5!!!!! Scared the shit out of me!!!!

no they dont buzz u idiot. tornadoes only happen in the "alley". its where hot and cold air mix and its around the middles. (Kansas, Oklahoma, part of Idaho, etc.) BTW thats some scary alarm. imagine waking up to that in ur ear!! probably wont wake me up lol
Yeah, like cheetawolf said, there is no difference in sound between a 2T22 and a 3T22. And I wouldn't necessarily say that the 3T22 is more common than the 2T22. From what I've personally seen, the 2T22 is much more common. Hi-lo capability is not seen as an important feature to most communities or fire departments. Yeah, there are plenty that do use it, but the vast majority don't. It may be called the "fire" signal, but that doesn't mean everyone is going need it or use it for that purpose.
