I rather dislike the implication that Scottish folk cannot count. I posit to this otherwise fantatsic show that one of the most celebrated mathematicians of all time James Clerk Maxwell (fellow who, in 1896, mathematically derived the speed of light from his own four equations of electromagnetism and was about .05% high of the modern value) was Scottish.
It's supposed to be a parody on the Ancient Celts of Scotland, not on the modern-day Scottish. But I do agree, he was treading some dangerous waters with that one!
Agreed! It's great to have a little kitchen lab show right in your computer, and sooooo much more rewarding than seeing some pale character DIY chef chopping onions for 5 minutes!
But I'm a little curious about Alton's idea of where the center is placed ... check 8:38 ; )
what a great show!!! All of the interesting detail which I crave when we are led through the 'how' while we are skipped around the 'why' of cooking and eating. Thanks!
The thing that makes me laugh is that people who go "Ew, haggis is disgusting" will quite happily eat hotdogs, which are essentially the same thing except the sheep's stomach is replaced with pig intestines. (for "natural casing" dogs) Oh and if you buy cheap hot dogs, the great tasting nutritious oats are replaced a lot of the time with sawdust. Enjoy!
One more thing. He really needs to never ever do that accent again. Really.
Im eating oatmeal right now......Haha

@Wallace01 I think the implication was that the character couldn't count. I also think you're reading way too much into it.
