@hallorand9 dude, your comment reminds me of my own experience with TOOL's music. i live with mental health issues AND traumatic brain injuries. often i've realized that i don't 'feel' much except bitterness, fear, anger. other people feel a million miles away... listening to they're music transports me to a distant, but sublime place, for lack of better words. TOOL's music is beautiful, and epic, in the truest sense of the words. they are in a class by themselves, in my opinion. stay hopeful.
Tool fans always have the most clever comments...and who the heck are the 4 people that didn't like this? I thought we had gotten rid of the Nazis years ago?
this is why I love tool their music is true art and they put everything they got into every show and every song can't wait for their new release in 2012 I'm sure it will be nothing short of amazing. long live TOOL
This might be the best live performance of any song in the history of humanity on our planet earth. If aliens ever visit us and listen to our music, TOOL is what they'd prefer. It's a surprise that TOOL is human.
@BASSxACE Yo BASSxACE, I gotta tell ya, all aliens and humans alike have grandly acknowledged the legendary master pieces of Tool...trust me. This music is a kind of immortal love that emanates from our Planet!
@BASSxACE I MOST DEFINITIVELY AGREE WITH YOU!!!!!! I always played Tool at the pizza shop to help me nights go by with ease! I LOVE THEM!! They are freakin' AWESOME!!!!! :)~
Third Eye, Vicarious, and Aenema for some reason always get me to want to destroy something. No idea why. Especially considering that that's probably not even close to the intended message.
This is diamond! Im also curious if they added solo in studio or if it's really that good live... I just curious, I don't really care, it sound badass!
Just smoking weed and listening to TO.ol, I feel that they are spreading the message of the universe being opened through an extra perceptory gland (third eye) as if they were trying to make it common knowledge. So people would'nt have to take hallucinagens to get that experience, It would just be hard wired from day 1 by society.
That's all humans really need, some strong information, and unanimous agreement throughout which makes up the COMMON DENOMINATOR.
The third eye is another name for the pineal gland, which is a part of the brain. Not much is known about it, but it's a fact that it contains DMT, also known as the strongest psychedelic in the world, that can also be found in plants and some animals. Smoking DMT will launch you into new dimensions, new experiences. To pry open our third eye could mean that we could finaly set our mind free of our bodily restrictions. This, of course, is just a theory of what the song could be about, but i like
If you haven't seen tool live, just do it! No excuses hitch hike if you have to just do it. I was on 5g of some fungi or another at one of there shows and I can tell you I was emotionally and spiritually ripped and reasembled between waves of sound and energy. I am not saying you need to go "detached" I believe the experience would have been life changing and beautiful either way there are things they do live that will never be experienced or heard on an album, peace.
They opened up with this at THE ROCKS last year, night two; jammed the fuck out of it for like twen mins. After this jam, Maynard says, "For the next two hours, nothing else matters," then played what can only be described as an all out "best of" show. Words can't really express the feelings from that show.
@Deuceasterpiece at one of the shows I went to he created this same space you describe by saying something to the effect of "you are here... Now, at this moment you are here, you are here now at this moment" he continued and it became redundant to a degree but for those truly listening it was like each time he said it was an attempt to chisel at the ego and maybe at the end he was able to break through even the thickest in the audience. Peace
If i was tool: do a "best of album" but fill it with songs like "lipan Conjuring" and "useful idiot" and "intermission" and "(-) Ions" and all the weird 1-2 minute things.
I love the double octave on Maynards voice from 7:33 - 8:03. The first time I heard it, I was like, "What the FUCK is that?" 2.0 speakers had me all bugabooe'd.
i have nooooo idea what this song is about. but i dont care. it makes me think of different things at different times throughout the song, what a journey....Tool is def. in my heart and mind forever. also ps, no one reply to me saying what they think the song is about...it tend to ruin it for me. its why i didnt write what i think its about either...i think everyone should experience and feel their own things
@telltalemse Maybe you should share what you think its about cuz then you may find other people have the same thoughts and interpretations. the beauty is that the music can envoke similar experiences in two totally different human beings and help bring interconnectivity to us all.
has anyone heard the women talking about 3 mins before the song ends.if so what is she saying.I will listen to it tonight and find the right que.i had it on quad surroundsound so i picked it up
@0506thekid It was a limited edition... They don't sell it anymore. Thank god I got it back then!! :D You might be able to find it on ebay. It's a boxset... comes with a dvd of their videos up to Schism and a color booklet of tour images and such.
tool are really the only active band who is really good, i think it's actually objective. In a world filled with shitty music for peon masses they can still be themselves, and this is amazing
@painxisxanxillusion it would have to be a Tool compilation set where it contains every single song ever recorded by Tool. Live songs and all!!! similar to what Led Zeppelin did... And Pink Floyd too i think... But Tool is the best "genre" of music EVER.

@ZeppelinFromtheLake Well, I don't know if you like APC but APC is apparently coming out with a couple live albums in spring 2011 after their returning tours. Tool... I don't know, I would hope so but they're all against releasing live video. Even this live album only consisted of a few songs, albeit a few good ones but they missed a lot of good stuff, and not just their "hits".
@VividlyConquered APC rules as well! they are actually gonna be on Jimmy Kimmel tomorrow night, so I know I'll be watching that. at least APC has professional live footage. I know Tool say, go to their concert if you wanna experience it instead of watching a video, but a live album from Tool would still be great, I know it will never happen, but its fun to think of the possibilities...
I think Tool doesn't want "hits". They want people to reach out n grab their sound with their own discovery, not from "hits' or videos. Maynard i think creates off of thoughts & feelings of course but as long as someone can take the music, learn & grow as a person while thinking about the ? in their lives--then the goal has been met.
@ZeppelinFromtheLake theres this record store i live by that i was at the other day and i found a live tool CD amongst some other tool records. it was defiantly a bootlegged CD but it was still pretty cool
this brings back amazing memories, this was the first song that was played at the concert, EXACTLY like this. When Maynard starts singing it brings memories of the concert
I'm so glad it's over-I've missed you so much/ Came to watch you play-Why are you running away?...This is what it feels like when you disconnect yourself from your 3rd EYE. When this life is said and done, that's when we enter what we've meditated. It's at this point we realize that this is a dream within a dream...
I am a huge tool fan. I was holding off listening to the salival album until the "right moment" well two nights ago was it. When i heard this song i was sitting in my back yard at 5 a.m. when maynard first scream i followed his voice into the back of my head and saw some fucking trippy trippy shit man so worth the wait!
@FidelxCatrated Wow I just listened to it for the first time last night. I told my girl I've never listened to it before because I was saving it and last night on mushrooms was the right moment Amazing
@FidelxCatrated I don't know how exactly you followed his voice into the back of your head and "saw" things while "thinking". But fuck, I eat ass tons of mushrooms so I can see how it could work. *sigh* want to buy LSD :P
