Whoa! How did the MTV censors not pick up that crotch shot at 4:27 for "I'm So Excited" (pun not intended, LOL)??
LOL, I know the MTV censors didn't even pick up seeing Whitesnake's 1987 "Here I Go Again" when Tawny Kitaen's breasts were exposed during a car drive either...

The Rap was hilarious and enjoyable back then...becuz they not like today rappers...they were hilarious back then...they didnt brag bout killing,or smoking, they had fun just bein silly steriotypical of wat they see on the streets...now we got guys who murdered.sold drugs, and just got outta jail, its just kinda scary now!but thats life!
Maybe mainstream rap of the late 80s & early 90s (i.e. Salt-N-Pepa, LL Cool J, Will Smith, Tone Loc, and MC Hammer), but gangsta rap was still there in the 80s with NWA, 2 Live Crew, and Ice-T. Gangsta Rap was a double edged sword: on one hand it brought the hardship of the ghettos to the mainstream but then it also brought it in themes of criminality during 1992-3 when rap artists tried to show how "bad" or "thugish" they were...which lead to the "gangsta" stereotypes.
@wxyzdetroit N.W.A. is the ONLY ones who really have a right to be gangsta if anything,Tupac also experienced things, some rappers rap bout life and thug life, and they become not famous becuz they never experienced,it and become posers.
And nobody would complain when these songs were played in shopping malls (where these songs always seemed to be played). I just need a flux capacitor, plutonium, a time recorder, and a Delorean. If someone like Whitney Houston came out today, she would never quite become the sensation in today's climate, because few people care about superstars anymore. Sad times.
music was good then because record companies would flood the market with one single wonders good example vanila ice because they could sell then 200000 singles to get that single in the top 10 of the billboard or the UK charts. so they make money and the artist does to because he has royalties afterwards. now a single to get to the top ten the artist just needs 20-30000 to sell. so record companies dont bother much.Ice still gets royalty cheques of 20-30000 quid.
Too much of the "music" today is flat and boring. Just doesn't spark inside.

Special Ed "I got it made" was good,
Every body loves that Zapp & Roggers
classic "Computer Love",
RUN-DMC "Its Tricky" classic,
The Fresh Prince & Dj Jazzy Jeff was one of the best groups of all time,
Dont get me started on Slick Rick,The man can tell a story,He would rap to you and you could picture the whole thing in your head,
Then the greatest entertainer of all time ."Michael Jackson"was the best,no one could touch him.
To me he was God Of Music.
