Ice skating, rock climbing, in line skating, mini golf, zip line, pool sports, court sports, flowrider, H2O Zone, etc. (I'm sure I'm forgetting some).
The things that may require an additional charge are eating at the upscale dining areas (flat rate of $20 per person regardless of restaurant), private time on the flowrider (training session), anything you buy in the shops, and drinks as useual (you can buy a cruise length bottomless soda glass for one flat price).
I have yet to take my first cruise. I'm told by seasoned cruisers that my first cruise should not be on such a large cruise ship. Not sure how true this is, but I am so sold on the Oasis that I'd rather take my chances. Any additional information you can provide is so appreciated. Thank you.
If you go on the oasis as your first cruise you could possible ruin you cruising experience completely (i'm serious). Going on a ship like that first doesn't allow you to enjoy what smaller ships have to offer. You really need to start smaller, there are great cheap 3 and 4 day cruises out of miami (RCCL) to the Bahamas. These are good to get your feet wet. Going too big too fast could prove to be a major let down for future cruises
@RCCLDisney. Thank you, RCCLDisney. I appreciate the input. I was thinking that I'd do a smaller ship for an intimate/romantic cruise. I definitely wouldn't want to do such a huge ship for that purpose. However, I wanted to surprise my son who's graduating from the 12th grade this year with a cruise on the Oasis (inviting 3 relatives/friends to join him). I thought that this type of cruise would be the best for them -- 4 teenaged boys -- none of whom has cruised before.
I have several friends that wanted to do the same and I talked them out of it as well. You may start on a RCCL Radience Class then move to the RCCL Voyager Class, then Freedom Class then on to Oasis. Its way way too much ship too too fast.
You will have a greater appreciation for cruising if you start small. Its not a race, its a way of life!!
@RCCLDisney. Several of my girlfriends and I talked about going on a cruise out of NYC or NJ. One of my girlfriends took her first cruise on the Freedom of the Seas (Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage). She LOVED it. She's only been on two cruises, that one and a European cruise. She thought it was fine to do a large ship for a first time. However, she's not necessarily "seasoned" on cruising either. Any you can recommend out of NYC or NJ?
@RCCLDisney. Of course I would be joining the boys on the Oasis. I just figured that if there was a LOT for them to do on the ship, they'd leave me alone. LOL. My son is disabled also, so the more activities ON the ship the better. Please feel free to give info on this as well. I so appreciate it.
As far as Disney, I always wanted to do one, but they were WAAAAAY too expensive, so we did the parks instead. Has pricing changed?
220 000 tonnes? I'm quite sure that the ship weighs less than half of that.
Anyway, I'm also quite sure that people have known since the days of Archimedes that a ship as big as this can float. They just didn't have the necessary technology to build one.
The only people giving this ship any thumbs down are some Carnival people and some old time cruisers.
The Carnival people don't like the fact that RCCL has better ships and some of the old time cruisers are used to small intimate cruise experiences.
I took 35 peeps on Freedom of the Seas (2nd largest cruise ship in the world) 2 years ago. These large ships provide more options for entertainment onboard as well as providing more room style choices. All 35 peeps had a great time.
The same 35 plus lots of other friends and family will be going again 50-75 peeps. This time on the Oasis or its sister ship (launching in Dec. 2010) the Allure of the Seas.
The next cruise will mark my 13th in 15 years (we also have timeshare at Disney Orlando). We typically go on a cruise every other year.
As far as people saying that while your onboard their (RCCL) is going to suck the money out of you. This statement couldn't be further from the truth. All amenities are free!
What a monumental waste of resouces. I would love to fill it full of jewish bankers and torpedo it to the bottom of the ocean. I wonder if it's big enough for Bernie and all his pals.
WHY would I help the people? if you have to ask I think you belong with the ignorant masses on the over consumption, self inflated vacation that this ship provides.
Have fun and remember , there are people who don't even have enought to eat or who are dying from maleria.
if you care about the people with malaria and dont have food then help them
cut off your internet so you can stop making yourself look like a retard and move to wherever these needy people are. they want to talk to you a lot more than the people of youtube so fuck off
@mungamom oh right, i dont have a brain. why don't you just shut up and get off this video. you don't like the oasis of the seas, we do, and you can't say anything about not helping people when going on it now. everytime it stops in haiti it donates hundreds of supplies to those people. you have officially lost your case so theres no point in even replying.
@TheJessicalex I have been on several cruises on the nicest ships and I find cruises to be a subpar experience and a shell of what could be a rich and varied experience if one would travel on their own and learn and experience the local cultures, foods, music and personalities that should be he essence of travel.
@MACKATTACK1970. I guess your comment would be true if ALL cruisers went on cruises just to learn about the countries they visit. Some prefer to just relax while others prefer the onboard activities. It's not fair to insult people because they would like to cruise on the world's largest cruise ship. Lastly, if you don't know that we ALL have different views and opinions, then perhaps you should be the one to GET A BRAIN. It is NOT that serious!!
@RCCLDisney. LOL. I didn't take their ignorance seriously, I just thought they were jumping off the deep end with their insults over a SHIP. I mean really? It has no bearing on their lives whatsoever so why the childishness? Anywho, I'm sure some of them are young kids. But then there's those who just want to hate on everybody and everything. They have hearts of steel behind computer screens!!
Well, I think you're missing a crucial point in the fact that many people are aware of what the ship provides and go mainly to enjoy the amenities offered. If one desired to get the real feel of travel he or she could just fly to the destination and stay for an extended time.
@britrob24 You may be right but as someone who has been on several cruises on some of the nicest ships I can tell you that a real vacation is one where you travel the road less traveled and where the local people and culture can be experienced. A sterile environment like a cruise ship is nothing that interests me as it is boring and doesn't give you the experience that one should receive from traveling to far away lands.
Ships are traditionally called "her". IIRC there was a video about "cruise etiquette" in YouTube that instructed cruisegoers to refer the ship as "she" or "her".
Wow, the last ship i would want to be on on Sept 11, 2010 is this one! If she were to be sunk by a terrorist attack of some sort, the sinking would claim more than TWICE as many lives as the original Sept 11th attack on the world trade center did!!
It's quite unlikely that everyone onboard would perish in case of such attack. Of course there's potential, but they could claim as many lives just by attacking New York again, but this time at such hour that there would be more people in the buildings.
Also, why didnt they attack the Independence of the Seas this year? After all it was the largest cruise ship in the world back then AND had such a tempting, patriotic name?
And no, I don't support terrorism. I'm just sick of all that paranoia.
um its 17 decks not 16 and oasis is the best

Mammoth joke on the ignorant masses. 8 hours in port, 5000 people, then back on the floating city, Vacation?? your better off in Vegas.
And what about actually going to a country and learning about and helping the people?
There are whats called volunteer vacations, but then I would think anyone who would go on this Beamoth wouldn't even consider volunteering.

This is consumption for the masses.
It's about as cheesy as it gets and has nothing to do with travel.
How can you enjoy a vacation with limited time at Port and the dumping of 5,000 people at one time for an 8 hour period.
Folks, get a brain, this is not the way to travel and you will learn nothing of the country that you visit.
This is a mammoth joke on the ignorant masses.
