@dezert115 Well, I have never said the name of the place, crowds you know. But if you rode in the Score 500 in 2004 I probably waved to ya from my roof as you rode by behind my place. Hoping they run it by me again. Keep Baja Wild!
I generally don't stop before San Miguel, unless of course Baja Malibu is going off. Some breaks to look for are Punta San José , the beaches at Cabras are fantastic, small sand dunes and tall grasses to the beach. There's an out of the way reef break just before the Cemex mining area has the name of some far east country. Then of course the points and reefs between San Telmo and Shipwrecks. If you have more time than a few days the Seven Sisters is worth the drive. Baja is full of spots.
The only way to find them is to hunt. Don't cheat. Don't get directions from others . If you think I'm telling you about these places and leaving out to get to them, you're right I am. The best thing about Baja is the adventure. Well and the empty lineups. People are still afraid to go, but really no reason not to go . do not drive at night. have fun
hint: the spot in the video is south of San Miguel
@mexicammox the place is called Las tres Casas or Casas Blancas or something like that. It is south of the town of Punta Colonet in Baja California, hit me up for directions, hahah
Surfed this spot quite a bit bak in the late 70's. It was quite a bit more crowded back then. Funny, I was thinking that would happen to your camera 8-O
Don't think we are going to make it. We will be down the last week of September and the first week of October as we do every year. Sorry I haven't gotten the latest video's up . Might just pop up a quick one, unedited, for you soon.
if its the spot i think it is, its ruined by the rude bastard who owns the accom there and charges for the camping. and the fact that its mexico and you have to wear a wetsuit. but pretty good waves and definitely uncrowded!
Well Ruben you must be thinking of a different spot as Richard, The proprietor of the closest Hostel in the area is not a rude guy but quite the opposite. He is truly knowledgeable about all things Mexico, would help anyone with a problem, has or can get anything one might need, always keeps cold beer, has the most wonderful wife Teresa (who is the best cook),
He opens his dining room to anyone who is need of a home cooked meal, never drops in on anyone in the lineup, is willing to go out of his way to see that his guests are enjoying their stay, and does all this for 5 bucks if you are parked in his concession area. A bit more for a clean room with hot running water, kitchen, cable tv, video library, He also rents fishing poles, surfboards, kayaks, bikes, cars, and motorcycles.
Oh, and I just got back and was able to trunk it, no wetsuit. The waves, however not epic, were way better than pretty good. So, I guess you got one thing right it is uncrowded
I'm sure you wouldn't let some stranger badmouth one of your best friends either. From your first post I don't think we're talking of the same place though. This is south of San Miguel.
Hey Thatcher, Fun surfing with you last week. More video coming, but may take me a week or so to pull it together . I did get some good footage of you and your dad. Stay tuned.
so... I guess you shut off the video when the screen went black and didn't stay for the credits? Yes, it is. Rory and a few members of Dr. Surf make it down the second week in July to surf and sing Happy Birthday to Richard. They have for years.
Headed back down this Tuesday.I don't know for how long, but at least a week. Hopefully the swell sticks around. I hope to comeback with more footage. check back
Everybody knows where this is! Good luck on getting your cam back! kkk Nice video

I'm surprised some toothless white trash crack head didn't jack your camera while you guys were in the water..
Cool Zephyr board, did you guys hook up with Jeff Ho down there? ;-)

No he just drops off my boards at home in Venice. Been trying to get Jeff to come along for years.

where is this?

I'd be afraid of criminals and Federales. That's why I moved to New Zealand - no crowds but not (as much) crime.

the song is La Llorona. Not sure who is performing, but Chavela Vargas does a kickass rendition. I miss surfing.
