I was taking another look at the website from which I intended to buy the B5, and I observed that its body its Mahogany... isn't that heavier than swamp ash? It must be an older model, its bridge has two parts...
Hi, could you please tell me which one is the lightest, SR505 or Artisan B5? I have the Artisan B4 Fretless, and it is really light, good for my shoulder... now i'm looking for a 5-string fretted light bass, and these two fellows looked nicer... I tested the SR505 from a friend, and have the Artisan B4FL. What about B5? Lighter or heavier than Ibanez? thanks, nice grooves!
@Spell2008 Thanks man! I'll probably buy the B5... I have a Skyline 55-01 Lakland. I like it very very much, and 've been playing with it for 6 yrs so far... The only issue is that it is quite heavy for me, and the routine of playing standing up 4 or more times a week caused me injury 2 or 3 years ago... Now I'm almost 100% better, and ready to buy this light bass in order to keep the health up =). Thanks again, knowing that B5 its even lighter than SR505 helped me a lot!
@viktordelima hi! I've tried the artisan B5, I have problems with my back so I need a light bass. the artisan B5 is surely one of the lightest basses I've ever tried and it also souds awesome! Get one!
Can you tell some comment about this guitar because i will buy this type but black version.I used Ibanez SR 505 and K5 but i sold them because i needed to go tu US. So i want to play on bass again :)
Hi, It's quite similar to the SR505, the main difference is the placement of the pickups. I think it's a decent bass for the price paid. The passive sound is quite "thin", but with the bartolini electronics you can put some body in it. In the vid. the bass is in passive ( well, it's not really passive, it's more a eq bypass ) mode, no EQ whatsoever, Hardware is decent, and the finish is flawless.
I'm used to play Jazz basses so I'm having a hard time with the playability.
There is no amp. involved here. I plugged the bass directly into the line input of the soundcard. The only thing in between is a boss lmb-3 with the enhancer off and settings at noon.

Ouch! Yep a 2 part "fortress" bridge, thats a old model! The fortress bridges are know te be not that stable.
The recent series have a EB12 bridge.
The swamp ash models are the lightest

Well the Cort is a real lightweight! I think the swamp ash B5 is lighter than the ibanez.
Thanks for your comment.

Hey, are you using an EADGC tuning? If yes, you made any ajustment to the nut?
Thanks and great video!

@andrebires
Thanks for your comment. I did no adjustments to the nut. The bass is completely stock. Worked just fine.
