Sorry for assuming in my first comment. I have seen many interviews by this guy (who's name is Jian) and that's just his style, long intros (I can see why it might bug someone even though it doesn't bug me, especially if you really, really, like the band/author/actor etc. being interviewed)

Keep in mind, this is primarily a radio program. And it is very common for Radio DJs to introduce the band with a mini history. If the band gets frustrated by that, I would find it pretty unprofessional. For a very pleasant one, check out the Neko Case one, or the Steven Page one.
