I think this Hamill fight sets up a dangerous precedent. If you are losing a fight terribly and your opponent does an illegal move accidentally, just throw in the towel and you'll get a win.

Right. Its unfortunate that Hamill couldn't continue because of the shoulder. But that's the point. It wasn't the elbows that stopped him. You could bust Hamill's eye socket, break his nose, cut his lip in half (its happened before), and crack his chin in two and he wouldn't tap. He has that much heart.
I think the elbows warrant a loss in points but not an auto loss. When Yoshihiro Akiyama was KOed fighting in Yarennoka, he was kneed while on the ground. He didn't get a win. It was a NC.

Anyway, the rules clearly say that if a fighter cannot continue after an illegal blow, the fighter that delivered the illegal blow is to be disqualified. Is there a loophole, yes. How is that not a viable argument? The fight ended because of an unrelated injury. The shoulder isn't an if, its a fact. The fight was stopped because of the shoulder, not the broken nose.
Waiting for the end of the round makes sense if you can stall out or prevent damage from happening. Covering up and laying flat while mounted is something white belts learn in week 2.

He bent him over, got him off balance and swept the leg. I have the fight on dvr, that's exactly what he did, and all he did was a simple leg sweep, nothing fancy.

How long was Hamill mounted? The first round still had 45 seconds when the fight was stopped. No one in their right mind waits for round to end for that long.
Again, if not for Hamills shoulder, Jones loses a point. Not the whole fight. Hamill didnt say stop because of the elbows. The shoulder is the variable.

But I'll stil admit that Jones was beating him badly. Why you can't admit that is beyond me. Jones lost the decision, but he wasn't definitely winning on the score cards. Hamill showed nothing in that first round that would threaten Jones.

Jones isnt the first fighter to make a mistake. Take a point away from him, but the fight must continue. That illegal elbow wasn't the defining blow that ended Hamill's night. He was getting beat down, plain and simple. When Rumble Johnson got poked by Kevin Burns and couldn't continue he lost the match.

The Anthony Johnson/Koscheck fight could have gone either way. Johnson kneed Koscheck while he was downed. I still think Koscheck won fair.
I think this Hamill fight sets up a dangerous precedent. If you are losing a fight terribly and your opponent does an illegal move accidentally, just throw in the towel and you'll get a win.

And I never mentioned 20 million. Because even the lesser known fighters making 1 million for a fight is taking home up to 3 times the amount as the most popular fighters. GSP made 400 K for fighting Thiago Alves at UFC 100, a huge promotion. And he's one of the faces of UFC.
So before you bash Boxing understanding that it is a more solidifed sport and deserves the respect.

Jones has nothing to prove in a rematch....He was in total control of that fight....And the elbow was unintentional so cheating is the wrong word to describe what happened...Jones smashed Hamill....Anyone who doesn't agree must either be blind or have some person dislike for Jones...Hamill is supposed to be a world class wrestler but he got dominated on the ground..That take down was VICIOUS!

I think Jones won that fight. He was clearly beating Hamill badly. I don't know what fight you were watching. Yes he threw an illegal elbow, but in my opinion the fight should have already been stopped. Either way, Hamill looked HORRIBLE in victory, and Jones looked AMAZING in defeat. I want to see Jones against Couture next!

Hamill didn't quit because of the elbows. He has too much hard for that. He quit because his arm was dislocated. If the arm wasn't popped, Jones loses a point, the doc wipes the blood, and it continues.
By this logic, the next time I fight an amateur MMA fight and someone accidentally knees me in the balls, I should throw in the towel and take the win?

If you can't continue, then that's exactly what you do. The problem with MMA fans today is they hyperbolize the "dominance" of a fighter, like Vera when Couture completely controlled him. Jones got a takedown, got full mount, couldn't do anything to Hamill, so he resorted to illegal shots that fucked the poor boys nose all to hell.

Bones dominated Matt all around. There wasnt even that much to it because it was so dominating. Jones is an exciting well rounded fighter. Nobody has whooped up on MH like that. He was hitting him with elbows continuously without answer. Mazzagatti should have stopped it before the illegal ones. The first legal elbows were doing more damage than what most guys do when the get the mount and just start swinging (they connect with like 5/10 punches)Hes only 22 too. Jones got heated. Matt defeated? Because last time I checked, he was announced the winner. With only one arm Hamill was doing fine, and was in no danger of taking any damage. The fight should have gone to the second round where Hamill could've gone back to his gameplan. Instead, Jones, who realized his hits were taking no effect on Hamill, had to use illegal shots to muster some sort of offense. He is only 22, and with great ability. But he's dumb. No fight composure whatsoever.
