  • False hope.

  • whats the name of the song karate kid ?

  • Way to show the kid some break dancing! What!! This is a Kata? A Tournament winning one? Well I hope his kicks, i mean Kamas, will at least scare any attackers that's all this Kata is good for. *sigh* It seems they'll give a black belt to anyone these days.

  • Good job, great kata and performance.

  • Nice kata. also what's the name of the song thats in the video? Thanks

  • wow! VERY impressed! keep it up!!

  • I met the XMA regional "champ" a few years ago. He was doing his fancy moves with a bo. I asked for him to lend me his bo to practice a kata. This thing (as all exhibition/XMA weapons) weighted maybe a couple of onces and seemed hollow. Practiced a good Okinawan Shuji No Kon kata, and there it goes the stupid thing just snapped in two after a couple of swings. XMA is nothing more than glorified gymnastics. But again, it is the fools game they prefer. Keep on collecting trophies guys.

  • how old is this "2nd degree" black belt ? im a 3rd and im going on my 20th year of training!!!!! did somebody say his master is 18yrs old ????

  • Try denying HIM a cookie.

  • you need smaller kama!1 ;)

  • He's a 2nd degree black belt. Look at the stripes on the belt 4 proof. I'm a 1st degree black belt. I got it when I was 9.

  • so you claim to be a master....and all this at 18 years of age.....I will leave it at that

  • this his kata is complratly inpracticle. if you think it is practicle show me the bunkai.

  • nice vid

  • Short guy, lots of noise.

  • john ur werid but ur good at what u do

    love nat

  • woow, freestyle kama :)

  • a bit too flashy with little real world application, but i have to say nice acrobatics. but with what i see, multiple kicks / spinning kicks in kubudo is not very, smart

  • one we do tae kwon do not kububo and two im a master in korean tae kwon do so

    shut up

  • When you pick up a weapon of Okinawan origin, you step into the art of kobudo. I believe the proper term is 'poseur'. XMA is lotsa flash, no substance. I pay it no mind. I used to- drove me nuts. Now, do what ya want. You'll still be a hollow practitioner- no understanding of the depth you missed in jumping, screaming and prostrating for trophies.

A master at 18? Good for you. I see little has changed about attitude in TKD in 20 years. But thanks for not polluting your reply with an f-bomb.

  • yeah i see your point, john has no understanding inthe sport we do and if you were refering to me well then , i kown i have a lot to learn and im ok with that i actullay ENJOY being forced into this sport , as far getting hit in the face thats another story. And as far as my attitude, well i admit it NEEDS work sometimes more then others, im just defencive over the kids i teach you kown.

  • Like it says "tournament kata" thus it does not incorporate any moves that are applicable to the real world, but fancy type moves (spinning, aerial-type moves, etc). I know and i'm glad to say that my training with the kamas are for real, that it's not rubbish, but applicable which is the only way I like it. If what you're aiming for kid is to have good tournament moves then good job as there's nothing bad with that.

  • I'd throw a fucking brick at his head and run, i dont care how shitty his tecnique is, i wouldnt like to meet him in a dark alley.

  • you are ugly

  • bitch no one asked u if u thought john was hot or cute hes great in tae kwon do ass hole

  • absoloutly amazing

i want to no wats da name ov dat song ??

i would apreciate if sum 1 new and wuld post it

  • it looked good but there was no real technique he held the kama right up near the blade and the strikes looked rubbish it was more like dancing than martail arts

  • Yes, you are totally right! It's amazing to see him move, but if there was an opponent he will be knocked out by the first move :P

Twist your kama will be a weak point, when you twist and the opponent attacks you lose the kama.

Also those kicks in the middle are a bit weird. If you kick and hold your kama downwards, you kick IN your kama in stead of the opponent :P

See this as a kind of dancing or Capoëra (or how you write it)

  • Although I agree that the technique was shabby, there is a traditional school of kobudo that taught to hold the kama nearer to the blade. It was for forward penetration during strikes, and for practicality and safety when shearing rice stalks. During combat, the choke was decreased, but many still held a high choke on the handle, during critical slashing, cutting and stabbing. Try a live kama, cutting through a branch. You'll want to grip high after a nearly stabbing your own leg. Trust me.

  • true, concerning the grip, however lets call this what it is.....Ketsugo....its not martial art

  • You're right. It's a demo style, mixed with several other 'styles' like capoeira and American style XMA.

  • It is this sort of tripe that is wrecking karate.

  • Exellent kata very good job nice and in control with the weapons too :D

  • thanks

  • looks good but those kamas are too heavy get xma kamas

  • hey i'm raul your friend u kinda messed up at d end w/ d song still good job fool!

  • well gd i dnt do da style but i fort dat woz exalent woow u go lil boi lol

  • I've used those kama, you'd be better off with some that don't weigh 100 lbs man.

  • Not being mean, but, I'm sure that the only reason he won, is merely on the fact that it's an advanced kata, with advanced steps, half of which he didn't even master. I think that he did better when he did it slow, then when he did it fast. He had better stances, and more precise attacks.

Nice set of trophies in the back.

  • i very much agree. advanced katas seem to win
