In this case the officer should have escorted Moats to the hospital room and then when that was done wrote out a full ticket for running the red light, not detain him and take away his chance to say good bye.

Moats ran the red light and that did warrant the police to react, but he had his emergency flashers on and was less than a block from the hospital. I think a little common since should have kicked in at that point. I feel there needs to be a better screening process for the personnel that are allowed to be police. I hope this scrub of a police officer is crucified by the media and he better lose his damn badge. There is NO excuse to act the way he did. He claims that he did everything by the book. Even in the police academy, you are taught to use YOUR OWN JUDGMENT. I'm just so sick of police using their badge as protection against everything. What would happen if the NFL would of walked away and then was tackled on the ground to be arrested? Would he be charged with resisting arrest? This is ridiculous.
