When I first played Shadow Man I treated it as a straight-forward action-adventure game - BAD MOVE. I was so stunned when I realised I had to backtrack, so annoyed too. I removed my saves for the game not long after lol.
The original Shadow Man was absolutely amazing. (If you look past the sketchy gameplay mechanics) It's been about 11 years for me and it did scare the mess outta me. Great music, story, and messed up crap factor. hahaha
If they remade this for the PS3 and stuff....shoot. I'd like to say that it would be sick as crap, but at the same time they might ruin it, you know?

This game was actually VERY cool...but I felt like it lacked once you compared it to the first game. This one isn't TERRIBLE but it's not great either. The atmosphere was lost, along with much of the subject matter...and the game felt unfinished in some ways; almost as if so much more was planned and they just didn't have the time or funding to complete it (hence the areas with destroyed pillars instead of gateways. All in all, good game, but it definitely missed the mark in my opinion
I agree, I got pretty far! I played it for days. The trouble with both shadowman games is they take a while to get going but once you're into it it's amazing. I want to complete shadowman 2 but my disc was scratched (second hand) so it stopped working :(

It has almost the same atmosphere and with no framerate issues I think it looks even better than the first one. I don't understand where all the hate comes from. It reminds me of Soul Reaver 1 and Blood Omen 2. Thanks for the video. I just bought a used copy for about 5 Euros and I'm really looking forward to it. :-)
@xwario I'm not sure. I'm guessing the hate comes from the changes made from the original, and some of the flaws in the gameplay in this one. I will say it's best to change the default control setting.

It's an adventure game, but that doesn't mean that it has to have God of War style of combat. It's got more exploration and puzzle elements. It doesn't need to be heavy on combat depth.

i find this game to make no sense after shadowman 1 mike was stranded in deadside after the explosion and of course legion tricked mike into giving him lukes bear so he was trapped there for the best part of century so how can there be people waiting for him and how can jaunty be in lifeside when he is the marrow gate keeper and cant leave deadside because he was beaten to death in island and nettie gave he that body and u cant leave deadside unless your shadowman they really mess up the series
i think Shadowman Version one looks a bit better but then again he does look cool with the whole skeleton get up o.o but i still perfer the first Shadowman look, he looks more voodooy n stuff :D
I hated this game, I don't consider this a Gem at all, it's trying so hard to stand up to its glorious original that everything becomes cliche, unnecessary and pretty much retarded. Look at Mike, he's now a beefcake who now turns into Acclaim's old character "Voodoo" from War Gods, another flop of a video game by them. Nobody liked that game, and nobody likes this one.
This game is so strange. The N64 or pc version for shadow man is way better, ESPECIALLY for the creepy and awesome soundtrack. This reminds me of when you first arrive in the asylum and starts those sounds of the ambience. The soundtrack from the original games are way better than these new games!
I dont like the look of Michael in this one. Even his moves are terrible and very clumsy. I miss the Old Michale LeRoi, tall thin black guy with some muscles, thats so cool.

It doesn't even matter anymore since Acclaim's been shut down and the games for sale are used copies, meaning the only one's profiting from this is the retailer, not the actual company that deserves it.
In other words, if he's smart he should get a pirated copy of the game, used game retailers are parasitic to the game industry. I'm not saying piracy isn't but in cases like this it doesn't affect the industry at all for the reasons I mentioned above.

I enjoyed this game. My favourite part was fighting on that small Celtic island, that rocked.
Overall though I felt the story didn't have the same depth as the first title.

I hated this game, I don't consider this a Gem at all, it's trying so hard to stand up to its glorious original that everything becomes cliche, unnecessary and pretty much retarded. Look at Mike, he's now a beefcake who now turns into Acclaim's old character "Voodoo" from War Gods, another flop of a video game by them. Nobody liked that game, and nobody likes this one.

This game is so strange. The N64 or pc version for shadow man is way better, ESPECIALLY for the creepy and awesome soundtrack. This reminds me of when you first arrive in the asylum and starts those sounds of the ambience. The soundtrack from the original games are way better than these new games!

I have no doubt, but this one's still pretty good. It drew me in, and I was addicted to it until I finished it.
It's not perfect, but it's still worth a look even if it doesn't compare to the original.

I dont like the look of Michael in this one. Even his moves are terrible and very clumsy. I miss the Old Michale LeRoi, tall thin black guy with some muscles, thats so cool.

It's an early PS2 game, so you can't expect the graphics to be spectacular.
The load times are quite long though. That's probably be my biggest complaint with the game.

I got this game at Gamestop for 3 bucks. I love how cheaply you can get ps2 games now, sometimes for less then a rental you can get the entire game.

It doesn't even matter anymore since Acclaim's been shut down and the games for sale are used copies, meaning the only one's profiting from this is the retailer, not the actual company that deserves it.
In other words, if he's smart he should get a pirated copy of the game, used game retailers are parasitic to the game industry. I'm not saying piracy isn't but in cases like this it doesn't affect the industry at all for the reasons I mentioned above.

Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that those retailer need to feed their families, and pay their employees as well. Either way you're giving your money to someone, and paying for the things you want.
Just because Acclaim is gone doesn't meant that you need to get a free lunch, because the game no longer give the developer profit.
By your reasoning, I should just steal a car that's being sold by it's owner, because the original car company isn't getting money for it.

Is this the beggining? Because Mikey has all of the tattoos(sry forgot what their called) And...the game doesnt seem as creepy or as menacing as the N64, it wheres the cool music...the screams of agony and pain of tortured souls! How can I expect to be creeped ot by...this? Who rembers the play room of the N64?

WOW! I recently get the game. They have changed the characthers, now Jaunty looks like an irish elf, and Mike is not skinny as the previous game.
But it's still a great game, great graphics too :D
