Too good for 16th place. I think it took this place because of the orchestra, which didn't play it as good as in the studio version. For me this song is the winner that year!
Even if I think Swedish is one of the more beautfiul languages, I must admit that Icelandic sounds even more beautiful. It flows so well and sounds so clear compared to many other languages.
As a Swedish lingustics nerd, the most interesting about Icelandic to me is, that it still pretty much is the same language, that our common ancestors spoke one thousand years ago. The old more complicated grammar, that we Swedes only can find in some old expressions these days, is still very much alive in Icelandic and Faroese. In this song, the expressions "i Gledhibankanum" and "tóman blús" are great examples of this.
The performance would have been even better, if they hadn't forgot to reset the synthizers when Ryder had finished their song. But excellent performance for little Iceland :)
Hi...I don´t speak Icelandic and I can´t find the english lyrics of this song...could you tell me what the song is all about?? What do they say?? Thanks
Thanks for your reply. Maybe I was a bit absent-minded, but the English lyrics of this Icelandic song appear in the own presentation of this video by eurovideonary, below the label "more info"....bye!

Very nice song! Nice entry from Iceland! Eirikur Hauksson is a great artist and in the 80s joined the heavy metal groups Start, Drysill and Artch

What a wonderful début for a country! Loving the flowing sound of the phonology in the lyrics, and they all look so happy :) Douze points!

@DuncanLafayette Time just flies away in the age of satellites
faster everyday, faster every night.
Taking too much credit from your account when the day is done
are you maybe drawing too much from the Bank of Fun?
Get a grip of things, tie a box in vans.
Just forget the past, you wont loose any friends.
All the silly things you made in life belong to yesterday
Whats youve got to do is try and push the blues away.
srry it not all
