@Rafathaman94 yeah exactly - and he gets really flaky. he play a bomb for half a set or even a whole one, then his energy levels and enthusiasm goes down rapidly
Nadal has now been beating him because instead of trying to pepper tsonga backhand like he did here,he has switched his tactic to attacking his forehand instead and tsonga returns have simply gotten worse.
But also he seems to have developed some some sort of block against nadal even on hard court where his game should really be too much for rafa but now days rafa beats pretty easily.
I put tsonga in the category of the monfils, gulbis, cilic players who all have the game to defeat rafa here.
Tsonga was inspired that day and produced an amazing all-round performance, combined both power and touch. Will rank as one of *the* best ever GS semi performances of all time, without doubt. It was his first, and yet produced this incredible performance.
Again, you are missing the point.... Okay, when was the last time Nadal beat someone from Top 10 ( with the exception of Tsonga in Bercy last year) ?? And all of those losses were on hardcourts (indoor and outdoor). I mean, he didn't even take one set at the WTF, for Christ sake....
Yes, i know that Gulbis never beat him. I mentioned him simply as an example, because he is a hard hitter. I could have mentioned Djokovic, or Blake... But the point is , i was talking about HARDCOURTS, and there Nadal IS more vulnerable than Murray.
see, this is why nadal is not the best in the world. Any big hitter, and i mean really anyone ( tsonga, delpotro, gulbis, berdych) can blow nadal away on hardcourts if their's game is on that day. and to be honest, nadal didn't play bad at all, he just doesn't have great attacking game.

nadal's service motion was so awkward back then, it explains why nadal's serve is so effective today because you can clearly see the difference
