  • NEVER cut toward your hand! This is a very dangerous habit to get into, and sooner or later you are going to be unintentionally slicing into your own flesh.

    This kind of advice is certain to contribute to many viewers eventually doing damage to themselves.

    The easier safer smarter way to remove the pit is to slice it around the equator, not the long oval way. with the avocado on a cutting board and your non-knife hand OVER the knife holding it steady as you cut down toward the cutting board.

  • Problem is you can only remove the pit like that if you have super sharp knives. If you have old, dull ones like me, the best way is to go up through the skin and push it out into the trash can. You don't lose as much meat as you may think. Plus, you can do it with a butterknife which is more desirable if you're making avocado sandwiches. Just my 2 cents.

  • @ghostofandy You dont really need to use super sharp knifes. Ive done this with those cheapy table knifes (not stake knifes, regular table knifes) just hit a bit harder.

  • @damarei i'm not mexican but i know this way back since i was young... we have avocados in Philippines and we eat them in a different manner as most people i know... we are customed to have it with condensed milk add crushed ice and enjoy...
