  • Sixteen to 19 days after mating the joey (size of a pea and pink in color) crawls from the cloaca to the pouch. This crawling is anywhere from two to 15 minutes. I just happened to check on her when the joey had just entered t he pouch and still wiggling. I have been a breeder for 11 years and have over 50 sugar gliders. I have seen this happen before, but never gotten a movie of it only photos. This joey did go into the pouch, latch on to the nipple and was carried full term.

  • If they are in the pouch its not giving birth. They are about the size of rice.

  • @jaldridge28 you should think hmmm maybe it wasn't her fault!! Oh ya maybe it came out on it's own it will still die prolly but don't make her feel like it's her fault cuz it's nod dumbass shitbag

  • That was her pinkie it was pretty obvious!!! :(

  • Silly shitbag, if it became detached from the nipple at that age the joey is a goner. their mouthes are formed around the nipple and is almost impossible to re-attach themselves. I think you should read more, dumbass

  • Wow

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • Hello i am buying a pair of sugar gliders and found out today the male isent neutered. Now that i think of it i want babies. Now i need to learn about birth. Do we humans need to help them? What if were not home? Do the babies require a special diet? Please get back to me. Oh and how many times a day do the babies need to eat? Thank you

  • well yes if your sugar glider is giving birth then you should be by her side at all times because if something gose wrong you could help her but its not just with sugar glider but all mammals

  • @cristamachine18

You do not help the mother at all. If anything you can distract her and she gets scared perhaps leaving the joey to find its on way or it could end up on the male's fur.

  • how old normal sugar glider can giving birth, start from baby?

  • Sheila has been a top breeder of rare colors for many years. This video is the tail end of the glider going into the pouch. It is there it attaches to a nipple and does not let go for another 2 months. This baby is not yet on nipple, therefore, it's part of a birth scene.

  • Right. I opened the pouch to check on her and saw the baby just sitting there on top moving. Normally they lick the area down to keep the joey moist on its travels, but it was all dry and she was just letting the joey do it all by itself. I have seen three more births, but normally the mom takes a bigge part in it.

  • ya i kno that technicall stuff. My video camera is really just an old digital camera. So all your sayin is that it was just born but you didnt catch the first few seconds on tape right

  • that is not birth :( that was a lil glider going into a pouch. They dont give birth through their pouch silly

  • technically when the glider crawls from the clocoa to the pouch area and scientifically this is termed "born" when they emerge from the pouch it is called out of pouch or oop. I saw this baby make its way up to the pouch and was moving. They are normally the size of a blackeyed pea when born. Sorry the video is not that good - it was taken with a flip camera.

  • that woiuld be a glider in pouch not giving birth you cant see the birth happen they are too tiny

  • great video... amazing how tiny they are when they are born!

  • Yes it is a birth. I have witnessed many births. I realize the movie is not that good, but if you visit my website you will see the still photos of it. Please email for website.

  • thats not a birth
