You're wrong. An illegal still must pay taxes. If he doesn't, he's breaking the law, and the IRS (not the INS) will fine him, jail him, or both. And the medical care is not free. He still must pay for it. We're talking here about letting "illegals" buy insurance, not giving them free medical care. It's similar to the situation with car insurance. You have to have it, even if you are a burglar. If you don't have it and drive anyway, you go to jail (but not for burglary).

Whoa, here, big guy. Calm down, please. You missed my point entirely. I didn't say illegals pay state or fed. taxes, I said they are _required_ to, and that, if they don't, they are breaking the law and can be prosecuted for breaking that law (nonpayment of taxes). You're right--most work under the table. But making it illegal for them to buy health insurance (which is what is being proposed) makes as much sense as forbidding them to by car insurance, or making it a crime for them to buy food.
