I always find it funny (in the US versions) when they get however many chickens and a rooster and they kill of a chicken first. Unless you want baby chickens, you don't need to keep the rooster around - he just fertilizes eggs, not lays them. Can't argue with the impulse to eat one right away, tho - they're prob really hungry!! Then save the rest and see if they lay eggs. :o)
They do! Several seasons they save the chickens for all or part of the time. They often wait to see how well the chickens produce eggs. Hm. Outback, Africa, Micronesia to name a few. In Micronesia, they released the last chicken to be free, but she sat near her cage digging a nest in the sand.
I guess it's hard if there are 2 eggs a day, and 6 people and they are all depleted and starving. But yes, egg rice would be a good way to divvy it all up so they all get at least a bit of protein.

You know what I don't understand, why doesn't anyone on Survivor ever keep the chickens to make eggs? Eggs have protein don't they?
