The words are the Sunset Poem (Eli Jenkins' Prayer), written by Dylan Thomas (1914-1953) as part of his play "Under Milk Wood".

The music is an Anglican chant composed by Arthur Henry Dyke Acland Troyte ("A.H.D.") (1811-1857).
