  • You can see, he is moving his center of gravity in a whole different way as Chen Xiaowang or Chen Zhenglei does. How can one explain this? For example in Movement 1 (Jin gang dao dui). Xiaowang and Zhenglei move first right, then left, right, step, left. Xuchen: left, right, step, left. Xiaowang's and Zhenglei's movement doesnt match the flow of Yin (hand towards dantien) and Yang (hand away from dantien) in this situation. Can somebody explain this?

  • watching taiji is like watching peking opera. i just don't get it.

  • sorry. maybe if you researched it and practiced it you would.

  • Taiji is not to be looked at, it's to be practised. Peking opera is better than western opera.

  • @pawoon uh.. yeah. Both are good though.. It helps me to watch video in between practice. Otherwise, i am merely imitating my master. When i watch various masters, I notice differences which helps me to see this fundamental way in which they're the same. And for me at least this is important. I'm like you though.. I prefer to do rather than watch. And you ought to watch Don Giovanni. It is a wonderful western opera. ;)

  • @baraclude it's hard to get it before you are a practitioner. When i was a dancer, i used to watch ballet video constantly. As a younger dancer, it didn't make sense. It was just pretty to watch. But as i became more skilled, it started to make more sense what i was seeing. And knowing what to look for. And taiji has been the same way for me. It's a process. The videos help once you start to identify key concepts.

  • 发科公4大弟子之一, 拳架古朴,韵味十足!

  • Is this Taiji?

  • Yes, it's Chen family Taiji

  • Great !

What do you think about the leaning forward in this case,

is it made in intention / purposely ?

    or a persons habit.
