(at least without help or assistance) During his absence in 2000, The Rock became the top face in the company, beating everyone there was to beat. Stone Cold comes back winning the Royal Rumble just barely, then he loses to Triple H at No Way Out. Stone Cold had beaten The Rock two years earlier in 1999 at Wrestlemania, but now The Rock was stronger and Stone Cold felt he needed help from Vince to beat him.

Unless you hated Hulk Hogan to begin with, you never bought him as a heel in the NWO
