my pigeons feathers on its neck are all gone hard and stiff after i feed it because the fluid from the feed goes into its feathers ,what can i do to ensure healthy feathers
I have two pairs of white homers-they're just pets for now, but the older pair are on eggs now. I'm so excited to see the babies.
I was just searching youtube to get some info in case I ever needed to handfeed and found your feeding videos. Especially in this video the baby pidgey is SOOO cute. I about died when I saw him/her chasing the feed tube. So, will it be a pet? I would totally get it a pigeon wear diaper and keep it as a pet. : )
AW! Your like it's mother..my pigeon's (Crosby) mom died it got electricuted on a wire and they ahd the egg in my coup, and then the baby got pecked to the extreme its kull was exposed and it was bleeding alot so I had to feed it myself and now it follows me everywhere, and it's like my child!
Yes, you can -- you feed till their crop is kind of full -- not so full that it feels hard though. I'm definitely not an expert though - so, I'd seek advice from the pigeon blogs
whats that thing you feed them with call? and what kind of formula?
i've raised pigeons for 7yrs now and i only hand feed the baby full corns. i've bought kaytees exact but i do not think its good to try it out yet. can i please get the name of the tube you feed the babies with and the formula please. i would really appreciate it alot thank you
It is a syringe with the tip cut off. I bought at a pet store -- I believe it was a 14 cc -- but, I'd get bigger if I could as it was kind of a pain to refill it two and three times per feeding. After you cut the end off, put a piece of balloon over the end with like an X cut in it -- and they put their beak in and suck the formula out.
I raised three from newly hatched and they are a total mess to feed! Oh but they are the most amazinly affectinate and sweet little things. I always loved how they're run to me while I sat there and walk up on my leg and flap one wing to get my attention to feed them. They're full grown and free now but they stay around the chicken coop by choice. Thank you for making this video nanobriga! I LOVED it! :)
Thanks for the comments. He was sweet as a baby but as he got older he became delusional (lol) he chases my cat, he wingslaps my husband and tears at his clothes and skin with his beak (as ineffectual as that is). Cracks us up. He flew to a nearby neighbors balcony one day and started pecking away at him. Luckily the neighbor thought it was funny and called his roommates out to check out my crazy bird. He lives outdoors now so god only knows what he gets up to. :o)
HAHAHA...yeah sounds like mine alright. Yours sound great though. When I was feeding mine I said "Never again, they're a MESS!" but I've watched this video 5 times and it is still beautiful. The diaper thing was GENIUS by the way!

how did you get that pigeon to eat from that thing.....
TearsOfLov3 4 years ago
It's a natural way for the baby to eat as that's how the mother and father feed them. I had to research it though. :o)
