You know what pisses me off, and maybe its just me cuz i wasnt around to see eric clapton in the 60's 70's or 80's, but in all the pictures and footage, i might have seen clapton with maybe 4 of these guitars in here. Blackie, Brownie, Martin acoustic, the red es 335. and the while SG. other then that, its always been Strat strat strat! the Crashocasters are nice but thats in the 00's. Anybody else? help me out people!

les paul did not invent the solid body electric guitar. the les paul was released in 1954. the telecaster was released in 1952...or essentially 1949 as the broadcaster. that was the first solid body guitar. les pauls are fantastic tho. totally different from fenders. i love both coz they achieve different sounds

wrong, les paul invented the solid body electric guitar with his "log" where he put pick ups in a solid piece of wood then the body of an archtop on either side.

fender was the first company to commercially put out a solid body guitar. so you are partially correct.

Fact: Les Paul did not invent the Les Paul Guitar. But if you ask Les he will tell you he invented fire too. Les was working on the Log with Epiphone and Ted McCarty of Gibson designed the Les Paul and sent a sales person from Gibson to seek the endorsement of Les since he was the guitar slinger of the day.
