Just wanted to tell you that I made this last weekend. Finally made the cornbread tonight with pinto beans and I made it into muffins. It was a big hit - everyone loved the muffins and I looked at all three of my grandchildren and they all had a muffin in their hand and were thoroughly enjoying them. I was hesitant to put the popcorn in the I think I will only use this mix now, as I was a big Jiffy Cornbread fan. It was so much better. Thank you for the recipe and method.
@LynnM3973 ~ Oh I am SO glad to hear it was well received! I like it so much better than that box mixed stuff too - and I TOO was a big fan of it before!
It's my pleasure to share and be of service!
Thank you for your encouraging post - I love to hear this!!!
To me the Nutrimill still gets it pretty fine even on the coursest setting. For most grains, if you want a 'cracked' grain - you'll have to use a manual mill.
We have a back up mill (I hope to show on youtube soon) with stones that cracks grain GREAT - it's the WonderMill Jr. Deluxe - it's on our store website....
millersgrainhouse(dot)com(slash)store
Soon I'll have a video up using it.
Agreed both of our electrics make the corn meal too course for even 'grits'.
Great videos and informative. I was wondering if you are using instant powdered milk the more granulated type, or the non instant powdered milk the more flour like type?
I love your videos! Very informative and I love how you do REAL whole grain cooking. So hard to find these days. :) One small suggestion, the volume in your videos is a bit low. I can still make out what you are saying, but barely. Otherwise, awesome vid!
The music intro is SUPER loud but the main parts of the video while you are talking are low. I have to max out the youtube volume AND my laptop volume. Then I can hear you, but barely. HTH!
How long do you recommend cooking it for? and at what temperature? If you were to make these up ahead of time and vacuum seal them, how long do you think they would last?
If you vacuum pack them, I'd think months in the pantry and a year in the freezer. Otherwise, like I have it in a baggie just a week or two in the pantry, month or two in the freezer.
Cornmeal can absorb moisture pretty big-time (that's why it's used on the bottom of pizzas).

Question, how coarse does the Nutrimill get the corn? I have a Wondermill and is seems like the coarsest setting is still really fine.

Yeah I'm on the hunt for a manual mill. Better yet if I could find a stone mill at the thrift store would be great.

Sorry - been on the road so I"m super late with replies!

Hi!
Thanks for the kind comment!
The powdered milk I use is very granulated....so I think it would be considered instant. It is not like a flour.

I was wanting to know if you know how to make home made shampoo; or bar of soap.If you know how can you pls post it.
loves7895 2 years ago
Well, I make my own powder deoderant and use coconut oil/olive oil for moisturizer but have not quite been happy with my shampoo endevours....
Soap and candle making are still in the 'trial and error' phase too...but fun hobbies!
Once I perfect any of those to a reasonable level, I'll be delighted to share (and help others avoid my mistakes)!

Hi!
Thanks for your kind words!
Yep - we got that fixed this next video. A new camera and adjusting the program was the problem.
I hope to have a video out every week to two weeks so keep tuned in!

I didn't know Corn meal was that easy to make. I'm considering buying a machine like the one you have
Pricklyash1 2 years ago
It is pretty easy!
New mills have come out on the market since I got this one, but the NutriMill is my favorite!
We have a lot of mill options in our online store -

If you care to look/compare.
I use mine almost every day.

Hmmmm. I wonder if it is because we changed cameras this time....
It seems to BLAST to me when I upload it and I don't change anything.
Does it still stay low when you adjust the volume on the youtube window and/or your own computer?
We'll have to check into it....if you don't mind replying, I'll know where to start looking.
Thanks for your encouraging kind words and helpful tips!
