  • Thats actually a really good cover. Kudos Nev!

  • thanx!..... but its not the best :) and my tempo does suck (starting to learn though :))

  • Your tone sounds a bit.. Flat. Not like in pitch, but there's nothing really to it. Good playing though. Just heads up on the tempo.

  • andy mcKee knows how to really make the song amazing, but i see you have tried hard, great effort, i could never learn that song

  • I bet you could. It's easier than it looks (pffiew), but granted, still no walk in the part :)

  • I pretty much say this to everyone, but if you have any technical questions about the song I could probably help you... and by the way... any idea how Andy gets his sound on those first chords in the second theme? I've worked it out that he hammer-ons with the left then immediately strums after the right hand pull offs but haven't taken the time to get it right, any ideas?

  • I dont know which harmonics you mean. I play some more details in thee capo2 version, and we play (I think) all details in dual drifting (see 6stringed). Are the harmonics you mean there??

otherwise, name a time from the original vid, so I can see what you mean.

  • In the song, there are essentially five parts,(1)the intro/outro which leads into and comes out from (2)the main theme that everyone is so amazed by at the beginning, and after repeating the main theme the song flows into(3) the slow theme with the two fingered chord that is played twice, the pseudo-barred chord, and the one finger chord with the hammer on at the end. Then of course (4)the rhythmical-strum section which is played three times, and once the song repeats, (5)Normal(ish) chording.

  • I'm talking about the third part, notice how he gets that nice soft sound transitioning from the hammer-on/pull-off/pluck to strumming the chord? I think he does that with a down strum then immediately back up across maybe the top 4 strings before doing the louder, more obvious strum.

  • That was the long explanation, but look at 00:35, :39, and :43, he also uses the same motion to strum at around :46-:47

  • how do you make the tapping loud enough on acoustic? do you have to press really hard?

  • no, you dont have to press hard. A 'medium'-quality steelstring guitar will suffice nicely. try it out.

  • You really got a nice sound in this vid, and timing is not so bad either (I was wrong on MSN :)) just that you start playing faster and faster, but you always do that (and a lot of musicians do), get a metronome!

  • dude...nice vid man!

    5 stars

    all the way

    take care

  • How long had you been working on it here?

  • all 'n all a few weeks I guess. known it for quite a while, and practice it off and on, whenever I'm in a beat-my-guitar-mood.

Not long enough to get my tempo straight, thats for sure :)
