@ClubPenguinFan90138 You will get them up there mate, not at the moment though with all this floodwater running into the rivers. They like the warm water and it's pretty well gone for the season now. Soon the winter species will start to move back in as the weather cools down. We've almost missed the summer species this year it's been so cold
Hi thedash1.....when you say you are using pilchards. are you using gang hooks and are you floating the bait or you just throwing it out without any weight other than the pilchards?
@goolydave On this day the weighted baits were being taken (3x3/0 ganged hooks) Although just last week we found the lightly weighted or non weighted ones were providing the goods. Also found they were taking whole dead mullet over pillies. Burley seems to be the key with sharks also trying to eat the burley buckets.
@myztichydra ... Not sure mate. We never catch them offshore but only seem to get smallish ones in the river. Biggest I've heard of was around the 1.3m in this river, I'm sure they do get bigger but it seems to be a good place for the small ones.
nice catches dude they got bigger every time =] wat bait you use. we use like mullet or just fish heads, but do you use fresh ( live ) or not. cause we never have luck ]= cheeeeers =]
@bigboxingmike . Mate we were using the good old pillie. Eel chunks are great but I have never used them. I use a lot of burley and blood but if they are there you don't really need it. Some people use live mullet and also live catfish. With the catfish I have heard of people cutting off the spines so they bleed and the catfish struggle more. With mullet just watch as they have a size limit of 30cm so it is illegal to use one under 30cm for live bait. Check the size and bag limits
@thedash1 cheers for that ill give your tips a shot...hoping to head down to logan river soon, but can you go on foot or do you have to have boat ? and how fare down river, and we never new mullet had to be over 30cm :S ours were either over or just under tho heard eel where good bait =]
The guys calling these sharks black tips are completely incorrect. They may have some black along the tips of some fins but I can assure you there are no black tip reef sharks in the Logan river and every shark caught on this video, this day, and every day I catch them are all Bull Sharks. As others have suggested they do cope well in fresh water and do inhibit many of the private lakes adjacent to the Logan river.
I remember learning about bull sharks. :) They can survive in fresh water because they take in salt water in their bodies and keep it for longer, or something. :)
You do know, that when you keep them from swimming, they can't breathe? Just thought you should know. Bet you wouldn't like someone suffocating you. Js.
@hotcheetosryummeh As long as they have water flowing through their gills they're fine. If they stop in water which doesn't have a current they suffocate, but the current here flows past their gills and they can still breathe.
@hotcheetosryummeh All of these sharks were released unharmed. If I was to keep one it could live out of water for 10 minutes and still be released and it would swim away. They are tough.
@wesbrisfish thanks wes. We missed most of it. they tend to grab the bait and hit the air before they pull on the line so we didn't get time to press record. Next time :-)
is this up in qld jimboomba?
