  • After working for the Evil Mouse of Disney world this is going to be a cake walk. Just got hired see you if a few maybe!

  • I am so glad that I don't work there anymore!!

  • do you have internet access as a crew on board?

  • well my position there will be in the cold storage warehouse handling all the incoming supplies.im assuming in the bottom of the ship

  • @skipholmes60 ok well I'm not sure how many roommates you'll have. That's one department I know very little about. Sorry I'm not much more help. I'd go ahead and assume you'll have 2 other roommates just to be safe. Most people on the ship do.

    See you soon!

  • well being the fact ill be joining this ship in the next two months it was great to see just what kind of living situations for the 5 month tour of duty.i can only hope to get bunked with just one other person and plan not bringing to much in the way of clothes

  • @skipholmes60 Well if you tell me what your job is I can tell you how many cabin mates you'll have. Also you don't really need much in the way of clothes because you're wearing your uniform so much. I can usually get by with one 95 cubic liter duffle bag. It's definitely smart to have collapsable luggage.

Good luck! I suppose I'll see you when you get here! Feel free to say hi!

  • @skipholmes60 : Forget about it. As a cold warehouse woker you will be sharing a room with 2 roomates. Only manager and officers can have a one bedrom. OPack lightly, you will need any extra space. And, by the way, avoid the job, is pretty nasty there.

  • hey, great post! I start watching your vlog as I'll probably work on NCL as well. Now I got the offer for a position as Guest Service Associate and they wanna interview me via Skype (I'm not from the US). My question is, does it mean positive for the position? Or they'd still consider the decision after the Skype Interview. You said 75% crew NCL are americans, how bout 25%others? And how long the training take before you finally get on board? Thank you any infos are highly appreciated! :)

  • @diaomonmon First off, congrats on getting the interview! Now I'm not sure if you're interviewing with NCL or specifically for Pride of America. They do separate hiring for my ship as far as I know, and the 75% American rule only applies to PofAmerica. I also don't know much about their hiring process but in my experience just getting an interview is a huge step in the right direction. If you ARE interviewing for PoA, then the training is on-board and only takes a week. Good luck!

  • IT MAY BE A BIGG ROOM BUT HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ON PRIDE OF HAWAII I WAS ONE OF THE FIRST CREW ON IT IN GERMAY EMAIL ME AT BRET_ROBINSON2003@YAHOO.COM I HAVE A QUESTION

  • If you want to apply, I recommend finding a recruiting session (ncl.com) and talking to someone in person. Or apply online. Either way, be prepared to start from the bottom and work your way up. Almost everyone has to do that. If you think you'd like shiplife and are willing to do that, or if you have very specific training and experience (working with kids, culinary training, etc), definitely apply. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made. :) Hope that helps! Anything else, just ask!

  • are NOT easy and you will work A LOT. I tend to work between 5-10 hours a day, 7 days a week. There are RARELY days off, and you basically live dorm style, with 2-4 other roommates. It's not the most comfortable situation, but it's not awful. As in any other work environment there are going to be people who aren't good managers, but hopefully those get weeded out. ---^

  • if someone has a question about a specific job, I'll answer to the best of my knowledge.

Sweetcande1990 - I work in the gift shop and my degree is in retail, but I got my job before I had completed my degree so that didn't cinch it for me. The ship I work on is U.S. flagged (the only NCL ship that is) and so its the law that they have 75% American crew. Other ships are nearly impossible to get on from what I understand, unless you transfer from somewhere else. Like I said before, most jobs -^

  • to ooliviak - I work in the gift shop, so I have a pretty good job. It still has its moments though.

Titohuertas - Ship life definitely isn't for everyone. It's tough to be on the ship for 5 months at a time. Depending on your job, it can really suck. Some departments work you really hard. There are people who work 8-13 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 20 weeks straight, and that's not easy. But, to be completely honest, it all depends on the job. I don't know everything, but ---^

  • Hey hun! I've been researching my butt off about all this bc I'm just dying to work on a cruise ship. I've been reading so many positive things. Also a few negatives like they treat u like a slave and blah blah blah.. That has me a bit worried. How many hrs a day do u work? Are you treated with respect? You seem like you would b awesome to work with! :) I also heard Americans aren't usually ever hired. How did you get this job? Did you have a degree in a field? Hope to hear from you soon!

  • I worked there for almost a year and a half. I would not recommend to anyone to work in a cruise ship. It just not worth it.

  • hey, thanks for the video. what do you recommend bringing along and not bringing? what job do you have? thanks!

  • Hey Berkeley. You can apply online if you want or if there's one close to you I think the best way to apply is to go to a recruiting session. Check the ncl websites careers section to see if there's one nearby. Good luck!

  • BUT with all that said, it's an awesome job if you can embrace it. You'll meet a ton of great people and there's no better situation for saving money. I love it here. Definitely enjoy your first week as much as you can. Put yourself out there and be open to all the new experiences. It's all what you make of it. I suppose I'll see you in a week! Don't hesitate to say hi!

  • @maghungie hey can you please tell how can i get a job on the pride of america thanks

  • Hi jazzynmv! Congrats on getting the job! A few things to keep in mind, pack as light as you can. You'll probably have 2 other roommates so space is limited. Plus you'll be wearing your uniform most of the day everyday. Also, be open to meeting new people. You'll probably have a tight bond with other people in your training class since you're all in the same boat (haha). Also, as much as it sucks, your probably not going to make as much money as you expect and you're going to work a LOT.

  • Hey! So..I'm leaving in a week for the Pride of America! I'm a junior server...anyways, as you probably understand, I'm sooooo nervous and kind of freaking out! Any words of advice? Your video was really helpful, btw!

  • @jazzynmv hey can you please tell me how can i get a job on pride of america i just apply or do you have any number to the hiring people or theyemail i can have thanks

  • This cabin actually looks larger and has more amenities than crew cabins I have saw on other major cruise lines (Princess, Carnival).

  • hey hows it going i was wondering how you like working for the pride of america and if the pay is good

i got offered a job at 7 an hour so any feedback is appreciated?

  • great video!! i will now officially be following your cruise ship adventure life!
