Good question! I took that 19 years ago, so don't remember exactly, but I do remember in similar cases lifting the fingers of my left hand off the camera in a hello. (I used both hands for holding the camera, so I couldn't do a proper wave.) - LHS

I remember when I was young I would do the same, never actually known why, it was almost as a reflex...of sorts :D

I don't know why they do that. They do it less now than they did in 1990 though. It may just be that they picked up the habit from seeing newscasts from the west in the sixties. It's also basically just a reflex thing here too I think! - LHS

Good question! I could have been anything from news: "And here is where a new construction project is about to begin - upon completion it will be known as 'Southern Terrace'", etc. to a group of photography students working on a project for school. The last part: A mysterious second level basement, two individuals arrive from a dark corridor... [Enter mysterious music..... - LHS
