  • Colombia a great land.

  • best hour i've spent on you tube :)

  • The paintings of the dogs are showing the danger in this situation, but at the same time the dogs are beautiful, more beautiful than the humans, they look extra good. The dogs themselves are not the predators, they are just slaves themselves trained to bite by the institution. One could say the same about the prison guards as well, that's why he intentionally focussed on the prisoners and their fear instead of the individuals who hurt them. His accusation is directed at the US legislation.

  • Fernando Botero is one of the word's greatest artists. Like Picasso he started painting and drawing proportionally correct pictures and then much later discovered for himself the new dimensions in space and volume which are more beautiful than the normal shapes we are used to. As the proportions expand the shapes become more and more interesting and intriguing. I am deeply grateful to Fernando Botero for expressing his outrage in his art and for inviting the world to understand the prisoners.

  • Certainly not surprised that he only picks Abu Ghraib as a subject matter and avoids serious other issues in Iraq like Iraqis gassing Kurds, Islam's prostitution of young boys, misogynism, abuse of homosexuals, be-headings, etc.

No doubt Berkeley, a pathetically hypocritical university of 'higher education', would highlight his work and not address the previously mentioned subjects. Anything to promote their lack of realistic understanding f the world and sense of idiotic self-righteousness!

  • i'm only watching this because i'm doing a report on Fernando Botero

  • @playerdouble haha same here

  • se podria subtitular este video en español?

  • As a Hispanic, I have to say we must get over the hatred we always display towards white Americans and the American culture. Case in point the the person at 51:40 who asks Botero the fist question.

Have some respect and rid yourself of the resentment towards USA. Instead let's embrace and respect each other.

  • During a recent trip to Medellin I got to visit Botero Square and the bronze sculptures were quite amazing.

The city of Medellin overall is quite modern and exceptionally well-kept and clean. The people were kind, adorable and hospitable by nature.

  • the guy below me has to shut up

    of course botero is creative!!!

how many artists do you see drawing fat people and making it look good?? ... none!!

    botero is great

  • Great point!!! No other artists have ever painted rubenesque figures. Another thing, if you find fat people ugly, keep it to yourself. How would you like it if I implied your people are all ugly?

  • Why must America censer truths to its citizens ? The media also paints, what it perceives to be its own truths. We can record history not make it up as we go along.

  • What an intelligent artist with substance and feeling . Botero!

  • The truth be told but as an American, I only blame those who have positioned us in war and greed within our great country . America is the sleeping giant not China. Does an American citizen really have a say or power to move the world? Someone made those poor choices electing and planting seeds of hate. It was not me ! I heard people blame President Bush others say President Regan. Some blame God for not intervening . Lets be for real in this melting American pot.

  • lol dude...china is no sleeping giant nowadays

for the last 20 years its been wide awake eating and growing at a ridiculous rate XD

  • errgg why do my replies never fall in place O_O

  • i nraelly admire

  • botero has been exposing corrupt colombian government throughout his life ..

so much so that his life was threatened ..

do your research before you write idiotic statements without knowing what you are talkin' about ...

abu ghraib is a global issue ...

you may want to check botero's paintings & what the last one went for at the auction house as far as him being a serious artist is concerned ... ...

  • Oh yeah; HE's SO FAMOUS FOR THOSE paintings about Colombia evil...that's why the only work anyone knows about is the fat people! Get real. He's a painter of Kitsch.

Money does not equal artistic status except to idiots like you.

I see 99% of your Favs are Political; you must be a joy to hang with, not. Assholes like you LOVE to kick the USA but say nothing about North Korea or Cuba dictatorships.

    Hypocrite.

  • rexicano:

you are late for your ignoramus anonymous meeting ...

jealousy is a terrible thing ....sad...

  • Aren't you late for the American Flag burning someplace?

I live in the best country in the world; why would I be jealous of a Marxist like you?

Funny how all these people want to hate on the USA but are dying to get here.

And if you think Botero is an artist you must hate art. He's an illustrator...and a comic one at that. And you are a joke.

  • que viva Colombia

  • ORIGINAL

    LO DEMAS ENVIDIA

  • Mr Botero, Amongst others...Art is the objectification of feeling, and the subjectification of Nature!

    (Susane Langer 1895 - 1985)

  • At the same time UC was staging this non-threatening event, they were advertising John Yoo's close ties with the White House in their fund-raising.

  • Botero, the most important living artist in the world today. No doubt!

  • wow. i can't believe berkeley got to have botero. nooot fair.
