That small park, with the triangle fountain! I love pierre. it may not have many stores, but theres lots of friendly people in pierre. And what tombstone in the rocks..?
Grew up in Pierre, left immediately after high school graduation. If the airline does what it's supposed to, I'll be back in Pierre in 17 hours for the first time in 50 yrs. Great video. Zesto is still there! Used to work at State Theatre.
I grew up in Pierre and left immediately after graduating high school. In about 17 hours I will be back in Pierre for the first time in 50 years. Thanks for the video-the place looks very different!
im going to do a report on youtube about the suicide epedimic 14 people i knew. Something has to be done about this its about 2 a month so far its neverending. thats why i left to get away from it all.
@connerconn I had a horrible summer like that, my friend kyle stover killed himself, and my aunt and grandma died the same summer. I said fuck it and moved out to oregon. A few people i know from pierre moved to eugene after i did, still more to come i'm sure.
lived in pierre for junior and senior high. don't go back very much anymore but have a lot of good memories. It was cool seeing Zesto and Dakotamart where I worked in high school. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for posting. Pierre is my favorite town in the world! I was born in Pierre, but my folks split up when I was around six. I used to go back and visit my Dad in Pierre in the summers. I always thought I would move back there when I grew up, but I am root bound in a neighboring state! I still get home sick--this helps!
I am born and raised in Pierre, moved away did the college thing then Minneapolis and Kansas City for a couple of years each. Now raising my family back in Pierre and love being here. The hills are so Green right now!
Nice video, I lived in Pierre when I was young. I would have loved to have seen some more stuff, McKinley Elementary, Riggs High, municipal pool, Griffin park, Pierre Mall. Great little town. I can't believe they tore down the old Sooper Dooper next to Zesto though!
I worked at that Sooper Dooper just prior to it closing -- they actually just remodeled that old building. I remember getting paid with ice cream if I would shovel their walkway during those early spring snowfalls! Good memories.
great video i just wanted to say you know were you ended the video that there is a tombstone in the rocks i found it one day just hanging out with some friends on a boat and we went back and walked over to it i feel bad for the poor kid i belive he drowned to death
it was a young American Indian kid that drowned. He and I believe a few of his friends were playing on the train bridge and he was either pushed or fell off and was never seen again. I remember members of his family were camped out at Steamboat Park the whole summer mourning his loss. That was also the summer of the big tornado that went through town and tore up all the trees on the banks of the river at Steamboat Park and throughout the town.
Great video!!! Got a great feel from your footage... Pierre's the best small town!!!! And the big white house on the corner's where i lived almost my entire life.... surprised the hell outta me when i saw it...
Small world! I lived in that very house for almost 10 years. Moved away in '86. That's why it's featured so prominently in the video. Thanks for the positive feedback!
