Probably one of the biggest reasons why most people don't watch anything other than the UFC is because they don't recognize the names in the other promotions. UFC did a good job building up the sport .....as did Pride which was the premier fight league before UFC paid $75M for their fighters contracts.
UFC is starting to undermine the sport with their aspirations for a monopoly. They underpay their fighters and try to control their careers.
On top of that the cage sucks. Affliction should be supported to keep UFC in check. Plus they have the top heavyweight division.

not all of use want, or afford, to buy all the ppv's that come out. if others can get cable deals even on smaller cable networks that would do a lot. we don't know a lot the other guys in anyother promotion, so why should pay to see guys we don't know.

Nah i disagree. Most of the UFC fighters ended up in Pride. Pride got a bit more press coz it was a bit more brutal than UFC with the head kicks and stomps. Plus they did not test for steroids....pride fighters were loaded with steroids...Wanderlai Barnett and more took them..

You guys seem to be intellectual.... just a point, I prefer WEC, TKO over UFC but UFC does a better job promoting their stars -- The problem is all these others brands need to find a mainstream network if they want to compete. Versus isn't that great! Hockey is exponentially getting better ratings on that station... I'm positive MMA will grow but we need competition!

Tapout is not the only MMA apperal company. UFC was the first major MMA organization, then came Pride (UFC was early 90's Pride was late 90's). UFC has always been the top org too. I liked Pride more but you can't deny it, espeically since it is now dead. I have Shamrock too. Diaz has been dissapointing lately and Shields has ANOTHER can in Drew Fickett.

do you remember the first elite xc show about a year and one month ago? basically why im bringing that up is you said silva is a good striker. he proved that when he ko'd wesley correira in the 1st round and that shows skill.shamrock however got dq'd for knees to the head which isn't his fault exactly but he should know better. but before he did that him and gracie were putting on a great fight. and yeah shamrock and lee will be a damn good fight.

Here's the deal: Pro Wrestling has lost a lotta credibility cuz they (WWE) are targeting kids thanks to Vince even though it's scripted; Boxing has become a tainted, sanitized, rich-man's sport; MMA is the future of combat sports even though it's been around for years. This should be an Olympic sport instead of stale-ass boxing.

I heard UFC 84 is Ortiz's last fight, Dana White put him against the undefeated Lyoto Machida so Tito is guaranteed to lose but I wonder if Ortiz will go EliteXC and I agree with your view on MMA being a sport. I see ESPN doing MMA coverage all the time and it'll be great once its completely considered its own sport instead of being the wrestling fan's alternative.
